Harry Belafonte Wants President Obama to Jail Dissenters
by L. Neil Smith
Hey, Wilma, I've been getting madder and madder (not ar you) since I read this crap you sent me about Harry Belafonte, who made millions from American capitalism and now wants Obama to put all the people who made him rich in a concentration camp. He's either evil, senile, or impossibly stupid.

Sworn upon the Altar of God
by A.X. Perez
In 1800 Thomas Jefferson wrote the following: Their hostility is on too interesting ground to be softened. The delusion into which the X. Y. Z. plot shewed it possible to push the people; the successful experiment made under the prevalence of that delusion on the clause of the constitution, which, while it secured the freedom of the press, covered also the freedom of religion, had given to the clergy a very favorite hope of obtaining an establishment of a particular form of Christianity thro' the U. S.; and as every sect believes its own form the true one, every one perhaps hoped for his own, but especially the Episcopalians & Congregationalists. The returning good sense of our country threatens abortion to their hopes, & they believe that any portion of power confided to me, will be exerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly; for I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.

Red Dawn 2012: A Review
by Sean Gangol
(Contains Spoilers) After two years of staying in the can due to the financial problems that MGM had experienced, the remake of the 1984 cult classic Red Dawn finally saw the light of day on Thanksgiving of 2012. At first I was somewhat skeptical about how the remake of one of my all-time favorite movies was going to turn out. When I first heard they were remaking the movie it seemed asinine to me. Back in the mid-eighties we were still having a cold war with the Soviet Union, so it didn't seem as far-fetched to have teenagers defending their homes from the Russians. Since the cold war has been over for quite sometime, who would we fight on our own soil? Not to say that we don't have our share of foreign enemies, but most of them aren't the type to parachute into Main Street America and occupy it with troops.

Neale's Weekly Gun Rant Volume 12
by Neale Osborn
The next (and biggest?) assault on the 2nd Amendment is coming, starting June 3rd. Obama is scheduled to get the UN Small Arms Treaty on his desk. If he signs it (and we know the asshat will) it goes to the Senate, where Reid will surely try to sneak it in with little or no debate. If it passes the Senate, it becomes law. If that happens, we are, theoretically, obliged to comply with it's MANDATORY registration and restrictions on gun types, quantities, and transfers, AND registration of and limitations on type and quantity of ammunition. You can bet your ass that this one will not go un-opposed. The Bill of Rights can ONLY be nullified by following Constitutional procedures.

The Joy of Air Plants and Other Thoughts for Memorial Day
by Jeff Fullerton
I was on the front porch setting up used teabags in jugs of rainwater to make Jerry Baker's weak tea solution for house plants when the mail truck rolled in. The postman had two packages. The first one he brought out was Tropiflora. The second was CTS Air Plants—aka Coastal Tillandsia Supply. Just getting them was a joy! Saturday morning on a holiday weekend. Had recieved the heads up that the CTS Order was shipping day before yesterday and expected it sometime next week. And Tropiflora I figured would ship next week.

Obama, Union Buster?
by Wendy McElroy
Organized labor has been a bedrock of President Obama's political power. How far will he go to preserve support from this key Democratic constituency? On April 16, the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers (UURWAW) became the first union to officially call for the repeal of Obama's signature legislation—the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

The unabridged audio version of my 1983 novel The Nagasaki Vector, brilliantly read by the great libertarian radio host Brian Wilson, is finally available for purchase.

Many feel that this is the funniest book I've written so far—at least intentionally—and features our old friend Win Bear, G. Howell Nahuatl, a sapient coyote, time traveler Bernie Gruenblum, and Georgie, the time machine who loves him.

EDITORIAL MATTERS

Some entries in "my weekly reader" (remember that?):

New film from Sacred Cow Productions: "American Drug War 2: Cannabis Destiny":

Warning, really puny pun here

City says cops had no duty to protect subway hero who subdued killer
By Kathianne Boniello

Warning, this next is to "World Net Daily" which I tend to disbelieve as a matter of experience, and also they try to put two pop-up ads on your PC, but anyway:

Backlash! Gun-control laws nullified
Sheriffs take bold stand to protect citizens from federal overreach

It is encouraging that so many county sheriffs are saying they will not enforce any unconstitutional gun laws (except the ones already in existence sometimes, which are just as unconstitutional mind you). The sheriff of my county has said "not in my lifetime" even. Of course talk and action are two different things. I suppose we will get to see in time to come.
