A Blueprint For Freedom
by L. Neil Smith
As you may know already, the Tea Parties that rattled our keepers so thoroughly in 2009 began with an offhand remark made by some politician on the radio. I can't remember who it was. I have tried to find out, but there are now at least a dozen individuals and groups claiming to have been the Splendid Source as far back as 1971. As I say, I clearly recall that it was a single politician on a talk radio show.

Funding The New World Order
by Olde Reb
It would be the epitome of human folly to ignore the repetition of the same Wall Street financiers who have routinely inflicted financial chaos and abject poverty by debt upon the under-developed world for decades, who now have leading roles in enforcing national IOU's which they created in Europe that is devastating each nation, who created and manage the $16 trillion debt on the United States, who also permeate the U.S. Treasury, who are also the largest campaign contributors for congressional and presidential candidates, and who are further the putative recipients of hidden profit from their Ponzi scheme that embezzles trillions of dollars from the United States government.

Bradley Manning: What a Just Verdict Would Have Looked Like
by Tomas L. Knapp
These are the components that I've come up with so far, but there may be more. Think of this as a bare minimum. For now. Ultimately, of course, this has to culminate in the dissolution of the US government—no union with torturers!—but a nice start would have been:....

Guess What, Bill?
by Sean Gangol
Not too long ago I heard Bill Maher go on a rant about libertarianism. He said that libertarians have gone insane with their recent obsession with free market capitalism, which he credits to their embrace of Ayn Rand or "Ann Rand" as he called her. Now Maher acts like he is the last sane voice of the libertarian movement.

A Day at the Tinfoil Festival
by Jeff Fullerton
"Waitin for Bus number 99", that rather amusing song by the B52s goes.
"Goin to the store for hotdogs &wine.
"When all of a sudden I felt real cold.
"And wound up in the belly of a big old UFO"!
After a late start spending the morning on other writing I was off despite the rains that set in much earlier than expected. Rolled into the little hamlet with the B52s still jamming "Is that you Mo-Dean"?
"It's me, Mo-Dean"!
"Is that you Mo-Dean"?
I am singing along happily with the windows down and the music cranked up high:
"It is I, Mo-Dean; the Interdimensional Outer Space Being"!
Some of the people I pass who are walking along the roadside glance my way. If they don't think I'm crazy, they are likely true believers and offended. Best not to get too roudy least the firefighters or police get riled up and try to cite me for reckless driving.

Black and White Stripes Forever!
by L. Neil Smith
One of my favorite e-mail correspondents forwarded a message to me lamenting that the American eagle, and the spirit it represents, is gone. Author Robert A. Heinlein once observed: "The American eagle eats carrion, never picks on anything its own size, and will soon be extinct."

Creating a Culture of Denunciation
by Wendy McElroy
On June 10, the Guardian featured an article entitled "Edward Snowden: Saving Us from the United Stasi of America" by Daniel Ellsberg of Pentagon Papers fame. He stated, "The NSA, FBI, and CIA have, with the new digital technology, surveillance powers over our own citizens that the Stasi—the secret police in the former "democratic republic" of East Germany—could scarcely have dreamed of"....

The unabridged audio version of my 1983 novel The Nagasaki Vector, brilliantly read by the great libertarian radio host Brian Wilson, is finally available for purchase.

Many feel that this is the funniest book I've written so far—at least intentionally—and features our old friend Win Bear, G. Howell Nahuatl, a sapient coyote, time traveler Bernie Gruenblum, and Georgie, the time machine who loves him.

Lawmakers Who Upheld NSA Phone Spying Received Double the Defense Industry Cash
by David Kravets
The numbers tell the story — in votes and dollars. On Wednesday, the House voted 217 to 205 not to rein in the NSA's phone-spying dragnet. It turns out that those 217 "no" voters received twice as much campaign financing from the defense and intelligence industry as the 205 "yes" voters.
