Due to a minor technical screw-up (either your editor missed them or I miss-sent them) You, my wonderful readers, got scrod. Somehow, my last two rants got misplaced [ actually it was Rant 19 that got lost, Rant 18 was published in Issue 729—Editor ]. Soooo, here they are for your reading pleasure. In all likelihood, there will ALSO be Number 20 provided to our hard working editor in time to make this issue of TLE.
Ranting Overdose Warning—Taking 2 Weekly Gun Rants in one sitting may be hazardous to your health—your financial health. It can cause an extreme desire to visit your local range a shoot a LOT of targets. And at today's prices, that can cost a bit. The Shooter General recommends spacing the reading out over 1-2 days for maximum safety.
Legal Disclaimer—The author, publisher, and editors assume no liability for any damages that may occur from reading too many Rants in a short period. If swelling of the trigger finger occurs, empty ammo boxes appear, or your spouse/significant other should get pissed over you being at the range to long, take'em with ya! That'll larn'em to go the first time you ask!

Rant Volume 19

Been camping, visiting, and camping some more. But here's what I managed to compile during my hiatus.

Copied from The Libertarian Enterprise, submitted by L. Neil Smith.

The following comes from John McDowell, by way of my aunt Bobbie. I have asked for, but not yet received appropriate permissions, but given that it was posted the way it is, I figure it's okay. It is entitled "My Gun".

Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 870 shotgun right in the doorway. I gave it 6 shells, then left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign right in front of our house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself.

Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media are wrong, and it's the misuse of guns by people that kills people, or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

All right, well I'm off to check on my forks and spoons.

I hear they're making people fat.

Little Stevie Wonder, a HUGELY talented performer, has stated he won't ever perform in Florida until Stand your Ground is repealed in the wake of the Zimmerman acquittal. Link.

Now Wonder has announced he will boycott Florida and the other 22 other U.S. states which carry similar laws until they are overturned. Speaking to fans at a show in Quebec City on Sunday, the singer said, "I decided today that until the Stand Your Ground law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again. As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world.

Does he REALLY think his music is more important than our right to self defense? Does he REALLY think his music is so important that a legally armed (as if there are, Constitutionally speaking, any ILLEGALLY armed people) person has an obligation to give way to a criminal to keep him coming to their state? As with the La Who Za Her, I say Fuck him.

The DOJ can't get enough guns of it's own, so it's stealing the property of an American citizen. Link. They have placed a "hold" on an American citizen getting his property back. While they CLAIM this does not mean they are going to falsely charge him with a hate crime (which is the only charge they are allowed to make, even though the FBI already said there was NO racial animus on the part of George Zimmerman), there is no other explanation for denying him the return of his property. I'll be honest—I doubt he wants it back. It's GOT TO bring bad memories to mind. I'd probably lock it in a safe and forget about it after all the shit he's gone through, or even fail to retrieve it from the police, and go buy myself a new gun. But after this crap, I think my lawyers would be getting involved in the retrieval of my gun just because they have now effectively stolen it.

Glock does it again. They have won another contract to supply a city PD their guns. Link. I'm not a fan of Glock, they just don't feel right in my hand. But as a Glock-trained Factory Armorer, I have to admit they are robust and reliable. I just don't particularly LIKE them!

Chicago does it again. Now, they are going to spy on social networks and issue notices to people their spying leads them to believe will commit violent crimes. link. Did they ever hear about a presumption of innocence? Or privacy rights?

Not a fan of high heels for the ladies—to me, they make the women look like they are about to fall down. But I could dig these heels on a lady. Link. What the hell does TSA think—women will pull'em off and use'em to hijack the plane? Get real! (There goes one more way I can't exercise my Constitutional right to defend myself on a plane!)

Gun fever breaking my ass!! Link. The reason gun sales will be less this year is simple—guns and ammo manufacturing cannot keep up with the demand, especially when Obama and his merry government assassins are buying every round of ammo they can come by. Isn't it funny, though, how the military (who all swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic) isn't getting most of these weapons and ammo—it's the Social Security, DHS, TSA, DEC, and HEW police forces (who knew old people and public school students were so rowdy) who are getting the weapons. And THEY swore no such oaths. Oh, and those HEW cops are NOT being posted to our schools to protect our children. That might be an acceptable use of them. I wonder why the government needs well over 100,000 "law enforcement officers" who are not actually cops, armed with military grade weapons? Do you NEED full-auto rifles to distribute SSI checks, or protect our national forests?

Maybe cops should learn to read addresses rather than just go blasting away at citizens. Link. It's not "poor lighting" that leads you to the wrong address. It's stupidity. They were on the wrong side of the street, at the wrong address. Just like SWAT teams blowing away people during "No-Knock" warrant assaults (something our Founding Fathers would have deplored, I might add)served on the wrong address, this is murder, pure and simple. There is absolutely no excuse for this hideous event. These two cops needs to be severely punished, but we all KNOW how it will end—Two cops absolved of guilt, and a ton of taxpayer money used try to buy off the wife and family of this murder victim. And the media will play along...........

Like this. Link. Oh, I know what you are saying—"But Neale, this isn't gun related!" Not yet, it isn't. But this is step one in the media suck-off of Hillary Clinton. They have anointed our next Democrat presidential nominee. I guess they feel guilty for throwing over the first serious female choice for a black male choice in the 2008 race. Now, don't get me wrong—Hillary or Barack, we'da been screwed either way. Two poorer choices I can't imagine—either "It takes a village to raise a child" or "You didn't build that (your business)! Someone else built that!". No, two more totally socialist, anti-individualist people I cannot imagine. But pay attention people—the anointing of Hillarious Rotten Clinton has begun in earnest. And as usual, NBC leads the charge to the left.

FINALLY, a legitimate use for tax dollars! Link. An Arkansas school district is giving 20 teachers and staff $1100 each to buy a holster and pistol, and spending over $50k on 53 hours each of training in live fire scenarios tailored specifically to combating a campus shooting. While several school districts have a few guns under lock and key for administrators' use in an emergency, this is the first time a school district is taking advantage of an Arkansas law that permits armed security guards to carry concealed on campus. Rather than hire guards who would do nothing but wander the halls (and make targets of themselves for a serious shooter), these will be teachers carrying concealed. Already employees (so the only added expense is the guns and training, plus yearly refresher training), the teachers will hopefully carry every day for no reason at all. But if the worst SHOULD occur, there will be teachers who do not have to hide their children then bravely face a gunman's bullet with no means of defending the kids. I'm not a supporter of public education at all, but if we are going to gather a bunch of juicy targets in one place for psychopaths to attack, let's protect the targets with every legitimate resource we have.

And again, Nancy Pelosi proves her lack of a brain. Link.

"We must uphold our oath to 'protect and defend' the constitution and all Americans by expanding background checks and keeping dangerous firearms out of the wrong hands." "We must restore confidence in the safety of our homes, schools, movie theaters, and neighborhoods by taking clear, concrete steps to prevent gun violence,"

What part of "Shall not be infringed" does this brain dead piece of excrement not understand?

"George Zimmerman Has The Nerve to Own Another Gun" might as well have been the headline. Link. Zimmerman was speeding a bit in Texas. Not reckless speeding, just exceeding the speed limit. Texas law requires cops to ask "Are there any weapons in the car?" It is NOT illegal to carry a loaded pistol in your glove compartment. Zimmerman answered the question honestly with a "Yes", and within five minutes, the stop was completed. For anyone BUT George Zimmerman, end of story. But MSN used the following teaser-

Texas police pull over an armed George Zimmerman as if he'd done something wrong. hell, with all the threats and warnings issued against him recently, he'd be an idiot NOT to be armed!

Rant Volume 20

Pardon my french, but why the fuck is this a surpise? Link. Why wouldn't people finally realise that "Gun Control" is actually a false-flag term for "Victim Disarmament", and needs to be fought any way possible.

"It's sinking in to some folks that 'I need to take responsibility for keeping my family safe,'" one Newtown resident told The Journal.

As this quote shows, not all Newtown parents are as anti-gun as the 19 Newtown parents that Obama keeps using as lobbyists for Victim Disarmament laws. One family has refused to participate as Obama's little poster-parents. So THEY never got a taxpayer-funded trip or two to DC. Now, don't get me wrong—While I do not approve of or support the mindless and unintelligent reaction to the deaths of their children, I hold nothing against them. They are being used by a whoremaster, and not acting on their own. I feel pity for them, and I hope I never experience a loss such as theirs. But if I did, I would not blame the tool. I would blame the society that kept the supposed protectors of my children unarmed. Oh, wait—I home school, and one reason why is exactly this one—so it will never happen.

The latest assault on firearms rights is being led by pediatricians in Florida.Link. Florida has a law that says doctors "should refrain" from prying into gun ownership when examining patients, and provides patients a method of reporting said questions if they feel "harassed or discriminated against" as a result of their answers. This law is currently on a court-ordered hold. Some people report being refused further treatment for their child unless the questions are answered. Others have been told that it is "a Medicaid necessity ... to answer a firearms question.". Others, when they refused to answer, were told to leave the room so the child could answer/inform on their parents in privacy. As is usual, the Brady Campaign leads the charge to violate the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Amendments, and is providing the doctors legal support in keeping the law on hold. From the linked article:

The Brady Campaign is leading the plaintiffs—including the Florida chapters of theAmerican Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians—in the lawsuit, which claims the law violates doctors' First Amendments rights to speak freely with their patients. U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke agreed with the freedom of speech claim and granted an injunction and then overturned the law in 2012.
The doctors groups' justification that they are just providing medical care to parents does not hold water, as the lead plaintiffs in the case are rabidly anti-gun. The American Academy of Pediatrics gives this "advice to parents" on its website: "Do not purchase a gun, especially a handgun. Remove all guns present in the home." It also instructed those who refuse to obey that they should "always keep the gun unloaded and locked up. Lock and store the bullets in a separate place."

I'm lucky. My doctor and I are both CCW holders, and I don't have to worry about MY medical records containing gun info. But if my daughter's pediatrician here in western NY ever asks about guns in the home, my answer will be "Whether there are or not has nothing to do with the heathcare of my family, and you will refrain from asking these questions." And my children are NEVER alone with a doctor. Until such time as one of my children has their own insurance they paid for, and are at least 18 years of age, if I am paying for it their health is MY business.

Aaaah, lovely Colorado. Your freedom-loving citizens are being hounded into serfdom, and terrorized by laws and regulations that violate the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights yet again. Link. A Castle Rock apartment complex is doing it's best to violate the 2nd Amendment rights of it's tenants. It has given them until October 1st to get rid of their guns, move, or be thrown out.

"The best thing this tenant can do is either move out or get rid of the guns," 9NEWS legal analyst Scott Robinson said.
Robinson says, in most cases, courts have supported the rights of landlords to impose "reasonable regulations" on tenants.
"The question is: is an outright ban of firearms reasonable in light of the US Constitution?" Robinson said.

Leave it to a legal analyst for a liberal news outlet to advise capitulation to rights violations (well, when they pertain to firearms—if the rights being violated were press rights, we'd hear a different story). NOTE—from an add-on to the story from after I began this segment:

The Douglas County Housing partnership owns Oakwood Apartments in Castle Rock. It was purchased with federal funds and is supported by local, state, and federal tax dollars.
"These community policy changes were distributed without the knowledge or authorization of the Board of Directors of the Douglas County Housing Partnership or its staff," a Douglas County Housing Partnership release said. "This board does not support any action that infringes on an individual's rights and will not allow Ross Management to implement these changes. The mission of the Douglas County Housing partnership is to preserve and develop safe, secure, quality housing while providing housing choices for those who have few,"

So they CLAIM the regulations were drafted without their permission by the managing company. I'm willing to bet that they supported the regulation, but being government funded, they knew they would wind up in serious legal jeopardy once the ruckus started, and the tenants didn't just roll over, piss on their bellies, and submit to "authority".

How do ya cook one of those puppies? Link. Deer Trail Colorado is in the middle of voting to issue hunting permits....... for unmanned drones. A $25 pemit can net you a $100 bounty for each drone bagged, no limit. Of course the authoritarian snoopers claim the town has no authority to issue said hunting licenses. This is true—NO ONE has the authority to sell you permission to hunt. But paying a bounty for shooting down unConstitutional spying devices is fine in my book.

Permission to shoot a drone may not be the town's to give away. "I don't see where the authority comes from, where a local municipality could empower people to shoot down drones," Calo pointed out. Unlike a deer in a local park, drones are private property and airspace is regulated by the U.S. Federal Aviation Commission rather than local authorities.

Sorry, but drones are NOT private property. If they are, then private citizens spying on other private citizens is already illegal, and thus, we can shoot down the drone. But these drones, supposedly privately owned, are leased by and operated through the auspices of government agencies—sheriff's offices, DEA, FDA, etc, which makes them an arm of the government, which is spying on citizens without a warrant. And thus, shooting them down would be self defense. I understand their claims that the drones have been used for S&R purposes. And when they are, I have no problem with it. But nobody is missing 99% of the time.

A shout out to Reality Check of NewsVine for this story.Link. Kahr Firearms is bidding a fond adieu to Baby Don Andrew Cuomo, Mafia dictator of this once fine state. After the ridiculous (and totally unConstitutional) NY SAFE act was passed, KAHR manufacturing has elected to build their new plant (and send 80-100 jobs and all the tax revenue accompanying the plant) across the Delaware to Pennsylvania. More and more firearms related businesses are leaving states like NY, Conn, and Co after their toadying suck-off of Obama and the Democrats by passing ever-more restrictive (and unConstitutional) laws restricting various types of firearms and magazines. They figure (quite correctly) that if the states want to restrict our rights, they do not deserve to profit from the businesses that service those rights. Voting with your wallet rules!!

That wraps this rant. See ya NEXT week!
