Australia continues down it's road to serfdom. 325 weapons were seized from a farm in Australia plus 4.2 tons of ammo. A father and two sons were arrested and the weapons seized after a "police audit" of 71 registered weapons somehow revealed that the farmers owned a bit more that what they'd admitted to. [Link] Gotta wonder where these reporters get their info, though. They report that Glock handguns valued at $10,000 each were among those seized. REALLY? I doubt that even the Glock 18 (the 9mm machinepistol) retails at 10 grand. And I REALLY loved this description—

As well as the Glock handguns, the haul contained military-style guns such as AK-47s, MP5 sub-machine guns and rifles featuring telescopic lenses.

Another great line is—

"Our fear is that these firearms are high-caliber firearms that if they got into the wrong hands they could certainly be used in a nasty way."

Really? Just read the fucking barrel—that will tell you if they are "high caliber", and Used "in a nasty way" is just too funny.

Mama Liberty has given us a new one. [Link]

It's not that people are dumber, it's that stupidity used to be more painful.

When I was about four years old, we stayed for a while with our Aunt Kay after father died. She had a mirror polished chrome electric percolator, and it sat in the middle of the table at every meal. She and mother drank a lot of coffee. My little sister and I used to sit there and make faces in our reflection, and one day my sister leaned too far forward, stuck her tongue out at the image and touched the hot pot. OUCH!!! She cried, screamed and fought as mother put an ice cube on her tongue and tried to comfort her. Eventually the pain went away, but the memory was permanent. Did she ever stick her tongue out at something she knew to be hot after that? Not that I know of. And neither did I.

Read on. It's a good one!

Today, I am introducing (some of) you to a guest columnist. Al Perez. Herder of wild young rapsacallions, Bon Vivant, and general great guy, he wrote the following, and instead of commenting about it, I felt it was best to pass it on untouched.

Saying What You Mean by A.X. Perez, [ Reprinted in this issue here so omitted from here—Editor ]

I have long maintained that Thomas Jefferson said it best.

...the Federal Judiciary; an irresponsible body (for impeachment is scarcely a scarecrow), working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped from the States, and the government of all be consolidated into one. When all government... in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the centre of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated. (1821)

And that's what we're seeing today.

Obama's EPA is busy trying to back-door gun control by banning smelting lead. The nations last lead smelter has been closed by EPA regulations making it too expensive to stay in business. Not that they will ever say that's why they're doing it. I'm just glad I have a LOT of lead stockpiled. Plumbers tend to collect it. And I did.

The deadline is creeping up on me, so I think I need to end this one now. Next week, my friends.
