One of the local radio stations (KLAQ) occasionally does a news commentary/comedy sketch entitled "Explaining First World Problems to a Third World Citizen." Most of them are basically "Gee, it's tough being rich" stories. However the title of the skit inspired the following:

First World Problem: I don't want to buy my kid Call of Juarez, it's too violent.

Third World Citizen: I'm trying to raise my kids in Juarez.

Actually, Juarez and Mexico aren't really Third World. Mexico enjoys a burgeoning industrial economy (VW manufactures cars there, for example). However, the War between the Cartels, caused by drug prohibition in the US and exacerbated by Operation Fast and Furious (If AG Holder and his boss think I've forgotten, will ever forget, or will ever let them of the hook) did a hell of a great job of knocking Mexico and especially Juarez down to Third World Status.

I never did care for other nations blaming their problems on American Imperialism, especially Mexico. Know too much about how corrupt Mexico is and how much they brought this down on themselves. That said, maybe if we got rid of the War on Some Drugs (As R.D. Bartucci [Hey Doc!], calls it) and our government didn't try to play things cute by supporting the Sinaloa Cartel in order to suppress the others ( a widely accepted thesis in Mexico), especially by smuggling them guns, Mexico would be better off.

Enjoy your First World Christmas and other winter holidays.
