History, HerStory, and Islam in Turkey
by Ceylan Özbudak
As a free Turkish woman, I acknowledge the movements for political equality, which transformed Western society in the 19th and 20th centuries. However, the modern Turkish women of the democratic Republic of Turkey owe their equality, not to feminist sentiments imported from the West, but to reforms introduced under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Cry No More
by Sara A. Hoyt
I grew up in a country that was decaying from an imagined great height where it got to divide the world in two with its hated next door neighbor. The height was largely imagined for various reasons, but the quickest one to explain would be that Portugal never had a mercantile empire, a manufacturing base to back their "rule of the world." There was no middle-class culture. So all the raw materials from the colonies, all the gold from South America, made a short stop in Portugal and then went on to enrich countries that did have a middle class culture, such as Britain and Holand.

Soft Pink Hands
by Madison MacBear
As Sun Tzu so famously wrote, "In seeking to create new allies from old enemies, the Superior Man does not cast under the chariot fellow travelers who have supported him hitherto." In "Letter from L. Neil Smith", Sovereign El Neil writes, "It may wet the panties of every ... 'Agorist' who thinks he's too good to dirty his soft pink hands with politics, but the ... only way to control the government is to become the government." He calls this an "undeniable truth." Sovereign El Neil referenced my soft pink hands, but he somehow failed to mention my pale, limpid eyes (one of my best features). I do not mind when statists call Agorism evil, unbalanced, or supporting of terrorists, child molesters, and money laundering. I simply look to the grand and glorious tradition of Agorism throughout history. After all, without Agorists, Napoleon's autarky would have collapsed early. Without Agorists, the Underground Railroad (freedom as contraband) would not have existed. Without Agorists, the patrons of Isher's weapons shops ("The right to buy contraband is the right to be free.") would not have had the option. And from whom does Sovereign El Neil think he will buy ammunition in the future, when the Feds have cut off all "legitimate" sources?

Dandelions and Dog Days:
The Memoirs of a Gentle Giant

Reviewed by Richard Blake
This book is the conjectural autobiography of Louis, a friend's dog. It starts with his meeting, as a puppy, with his human family, and ends with the inevitable last appointment with the vet. Between these points, we have all the usual highs and lows of a dog's life. If you have never had a dog—if, indeed, you have no affection for animals—the book will leave you cold. If you are such a person, there is nothing I or anyone else can say to make you buy it. Fortunately, however, we are a nation of dog-lovers. If you are, or ever have been, a dog-owner, you will find something on every page with which to agree or identify. Partly, I think, because of my present mood, it left me feeling sad, and a little guilty.

When Hell Freezes Over: Addendum

After publication of my last article "When Hell Freezes Over" I realized that a neglected to attach the pics of my endeavor to procure enough BTUs to get me through this coming cold snap which is descending upon me after a rather pleasant week of mild weather in which my heating system has effortlessly kept up—which is always a big help in conserving my dwindling stocks of firewood!

Another Candidate Amendment: The "Sunset Amendment"
by Terence James Mason
The "Sunset Amendment": 1. No law shall have force in perpetuity unless: (a) it shall have been stated to be of perpetual intent; (b) it shall have passed out of both the Senate and the House of Representatives with at least a two- thirds majority vote in both houses; and (c) it shall have been signed by the President on the first reading as specified within the Constitution....

Neale's Weekly Gun Rant Volume 39
by Neale Osborn
We'll start this one with an excellent link contributed by Mama Liberty. Soooo, enjoy the link, and the commentary on it—Ethics from the Barrel of a Gun: But for the other 97%, the bearing of arms functions not merely as an assertion of power but as a fierce and redemptive discipline. When sudden death hangs inches from your right hand, you become much more careful, more mindful, and much more peaceful in your heart—because you know that if you are thoughtless or sloppy in your actions or succumb to bad temper, people will die.

The unabridged audio version of my 1983 novel The Nagasaki Vector, brilliantly read by the great libertarian radio host Brian Wilson, is finally available for purchase.

Many feel that this is the funniest book I've written so far—at least intentionally—and features our old friend Win Bear, G. Howell Nahuatl, a sapient coyote, time traveler Bernie Gruenblum, and Georgie, the time machine who loves him.
