Not a Jefferson Among Them
by L. Neil Smith
It could be said that all of us are living in times when too much
history is being made. Or when too much history is being made too quickly. Most of us
were born in the shadow of World War II, when nuclear weapons were a proven technology.
Our childhood saw war in Korea, our teenage years the war in Vietnam. Together we
watched the rise of the superstate, international corporations, and the United Nations.
After a long, dark, bloody struggle we foolishly believed we'd won, Western Civilization
was taken over by welfare-warfare socialism. fascism, and communism.

Myth and History by Stephen James Yeates
Reviewed by Richard Blake (a.k.a. Sean Gabb)
I was told about this book by Dararis Tighe, whose own review can be
found on Amazon. I refer you to her comments on its poor writing and sloppy editing. These
are entirely just. Instead of repeating her, though, I will concentrate on the substantive
claims made in the book. These are summarised in the product description....

As Hell Continues to Freeze: The Hearth is the Heart of Home
by Jeff Fullerton
My friend Ray from Wisconsin and I have a name for the kind of weather
currently gripping the nation: Norseman's Hell! It derives from the Norse mythology—that
of the people also known as the Vikings who believed that Hell is a very cold place and that
end of the world was a dark and eternal winter. It's understandable how any people who live
in a cold northern climate might come to believe something like that given that under primitive
conditions—cold weather is very hostile to human life—and most other life for that matter.
Given the uncertain nature of weather and climate—there has long been a deep underlying fear
among those who live in the temperate regions of Earth that maybe someday Spring might never
come and the cold, lean times of winter might go on forever....

Executive Disorder
by C.D. Michel
With another stroke of his executive pen, President Obama has again
confirmed his anti-Second Amendment agenda. On August 29, 2013, the White House issued
a press release declaring two executive actions going into effect. The first proposed
change is to federal regulation to require background checks and law enforcement
approval before firearms regulated under the National Firearms Act or "NFA" (things
like machineguns, destructive devices, short barreled rifles/shotguns) can be transferred.

Attack the System: A New Anarchist Perspective for the 21st Century by Keith Preston
Reviewed by Sean Gabb
I first came across Keith Preston in October 2008. In those days, the
Libertarian Alliance was able to put up £1,000 every year for a prize essay. The title I
had set for that year was "To what extent can a libertarian utopia be described as Tesco
minus the State?" I wanted someone to analyse the frequent identification of libertarianism
with the defence of big business. Though I had my own view of the question, the conclusions
reached were less important than the quality of the analysis. Sadly, my question brought me
a flood of autopilot defences of big business, all in the house style of the Adam Smith
Institute. One of them began something like: "I've never heard of Tesco, so I'll write about
Wal-Mart." It continued with a love letter so gushing, even Madsen Pirie might have given it
a funny look.

Who's Not Behind Alongside Night?
by J. Neil Schulman
Since I got my Netflix subscription two months ago I've been immersing
myself in documentaries. I've watched documentaries suggesting a partisan Republican agenda
Rupert Murdoch allegedly has for Fox News (Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism),
two documentaries on Sarah Palin—one pro, one con (The Undefeated, Sarah Palin:
You Betcha!)—one looking at the late Andrew Breitbart (Hating Breitbart), one
on Wikileaks (We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks), and—right now—one called
The Billionaires' Tea Party, suggesting that the Tea Party movement is "Astroturf"—recruiting
dupes unknowingly to support the financial interests of the billionaire Koch brothers, Charles and David.

Neale's Weekly Gun Rant Volume 2-16-2014
by Neale Osborn
NYPD's Finest display their good side—They manage to stop a 10
year old boy from filming them, and only broke ONE limb! Then, to punish the mother,
they drag her outside in her underwear and play with her nipple ring. MAN do I love
a professional police force... And people wonder why I don't support most police anymore.
Want some more reasons? OK. A good cop. People—a no-knock warrant is an armed home
invasion. PERIOD. A warrant is served by a loud knock on the door, announcing that you
are the police with a warrant, and showing said warrant to the occupants of the home,
then proceeding with executing the warrant. A no-knock warrant is served by having a
bunch of armed thugs in black tactical gear with no markings on the front kick in a
door and perform a violent assault on the occupants, while screaming "Police!" Sorry,
but that is NOT good enough—Not only is this not a Constitutional act (NO, I don't
give a flying fuck if the SCOTUS lies that it is), but a homeowner CANNOT believe the
yells because there are home assaults like this on a regular basis by fake cops. SO,
as a homeowner, you HAVE to protect your family from these acts.
