Rush, you are a glow-in-the-dark statist asshole.
If we had to rely on you for freedom, we'd all be
in chains, electrocuted into insensibility, covered
with bruises, and dripping with Mace and pepper
spray. You have become a first class copsucker.

A Cure for the Police Problem
by L. Neil Smith
America has a problem. People don't generally avoid speaking of it, but, to my knowledge, no one has offered any kind of solution to it. The failure to address it properly has changed the character of the nation. That problem is the police. They and their supporters will tell you a very different story, but they are almost self-evidently over funded, far too heavily armed, and there are vastly too many of them. Worst, they are almost never held to account for anything they do.

"The 'Greatest Generation' is the one that ABOLISHED the USA military draft."
by Dennis Wilson
"The 'Greatest Generation' is the one that ABOLISHED the Involuntary Military Servitude (Military Conscription), imposed by the USA Government." Conscription SHOULD have been EXPLICITLY FORBIDDEN in the Bill of Rights. The 'Greatest Generation' accomplished what the Founding Fathers overlooked.

Mystical Anarchism and the National Quest for an Alternative Britain

I begin with my apologies to the author. He sent me a copy of this book months ago. Keith Preston had said I would be a useful reviewer. I said I would review it. I promised I would review it. Then I got even busier than usual, and went into one of my periodic depressions. I never quite forgot the promise. But I did break it, and must now record how ashamed I feel, and how this has contributed to my depression.

Thomas Jefferson: Horticulturalist
by Jeff Fullerton
A reminder worth sharing that appeared as a heads up on my cell phone this week: Come Monday April 13th is the birthday of Thomas Jefferson; born on that date in 1743 who was also considered the primary author of The Declaration of Independence and served as the third President of the United States for two terms from 1801 to 1809. Other noteworthy accomplishments include serving as the first Secretary of State under George Washington, the Virginia & Kentucky Resolutions written to foment opposition to the Alien & Sedition Acts and other policies of the Federalist Party during the John Adams Administration. And for quite a few quote dear to many who value individual rights and Freedom.

A Difference That Makes No Difference...
by L.Neil Smith
I have lately been bitterly accused by those closest to me of the libertarian thought-crime of favoring one authoritarian side (conservatism) over the other side (liberalism), in the colossal battle that our once-great civilization has deteriorated into in my lifetime. I don't really know what liberals think about me, assuming that they think of me at all; I don't know any liberals well enough to ask them. Conservatives, who never seem to understand that the differences between what they think and what libertarians think are just as great as those between us and liberals (or between liberals and themselves) tend to regard me as some kind of traitor, knifing my allies in the back. Or trying to steal "their" votes.

EDITORIAL MATTERS

In article "A Difference That Makes No Difference..." in this issue, Mr. L. Neil Smith writes:

Conservatism is born of a backward religiosity that drives a pathological need to control people and things. Both are severe problems of the human psyche that I won't live long enough to solve.

The best description of conservatism I've seen is in Karl Popper's The Open Society and Its Enemies, in the section on Plato. Viz, to wit: "fear of change" (with many examples and expositions). "Terror of change" might be an even better description.

Since LIFE is nothing if not a series of changes, we have the reason conservatives are anti-life, anti-living, and anti-anyone-alive. And why they are even more contemptible than liberals.

You should probably read that book, buy it from:
Amazon.com or from Barnes and Noble

I watch John Oliver's show every week. It's like The Daily Show except it is actually funny, it is truthful, and it is politically un-correct. This was excellent:

John Oliver Reveals To Edward Snowden Americans' Top Privacy Fear: Dick Pics
In order to wake up Americans about pressing government surveillance concerns, John Oliver hits them where it hurts.

by KC Ifeanyi

Edward Snowden's appearance on Sunday's episode of _Last Week Tonight with John Oliver_ made one thing very apparent: Snowden would resonate more with Americans if he rebranded his mission in a more relatable way, STAT.
