The first, and most obvious, is how these films stand as works of art in their own right —narrative structure, acting, general production values and so forth. Thoughts on a Massacre

Re: the replay of every pro and anti gun argument as a result of the Mother Emmanuel Massacre. The shit got his gun illegally (it is illegal to give a gun to someone charged with crimes for which he was charged. ( I will refer to the shooter as a, the, or that shit. He does not deserve to be called by name.) He also could have used pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, or butcher's knives. Gun control laws would change none of this.

EDITORIAL MATTERS

Well, this was in a document that came in the snail-mail:

Federal law requires you to indicate your race in order to avoid discrimination in jury selection. (See note on reverse side). Please fill in completely one or more circles that describe your race.
O Black/African American   O Asian  O American Indian/Alaska Native
O White     O Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander
O Other (specify) __________________

The note on the reverse side? It says:

Question 11 - RACE. Federal law requires you as a prospective juror to indicate your race. This answer is required solely to avoid discrimination in juror selection and has absolutely no bearing on qualifications for jury service. By answering this question you help the federal court check and observe the juror selection process so that discrimination cannot occur. In this way, the federal court can fulfill the policy of the Unites States, which is to provide jurors who are randomly selected from a fair cross section of the community.

Er... it looks like to me that the ONLY way they could POSSIBLY discriminate was by knowing my race. But they think they must know it to... not know it? What? What? What?

Aristotle wrote in Book I, Section 2, of Prior Analytics:

First then take a universal negative with the terms A and B. If no B is A, neither can any A be B. For if some A (say C) were B, it would not be true that no B is A; for C is a B.
