While the battle for equality before the
law was one of the most important political

EDITORIAL MATTERS My wife asked me what a "tunderstorm" was, seeing as how I had mentioned those things last issue. As best I remember, it is a combination thunderstorm and soiree, but don't quote me on that—I've been wrong before. Someone described this here article as proof that "the vast majority of people simply don't think for themselves": [link] Alas, I think he is correct. Which casts a bit of doubt on that old "democracy", "republic", and "land of the free and home of the brave" thing, doesn't it. Suggestions for a fix will be received at the usual address. And for some good laughs, check out these two live blogs for the "republican" "debate": The translations from the original words to the meaning of those words is funny, funny, and funny. Also sad, of course because we are "governed" by complete pisswits, but you knew that already. Finally, "what's with the blasting from the pasting for L. Neil Smith's contributions to his own magazine?" you ask. It's because El Neil is busy with some important stuff that needed doing and so he is doing it. He will be back shortly as soon as it is done.
