E-Book Round Up: Social Justice Warriors Always Lie

Special to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise
I know that there are at least two reviews of Vox Day‘s Social Justice Warriors Always Lie that have been published by L. Neil Smith's THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE but I decided to put my own two cents in, since I now consider Social Justice Warriors (SJW‘s) to be one of the biggest threats to individual freedom. While I can certainly say that I don‘t agree with Vox Day on every issue, he definitely hit the nail right on the head, when it comes to SJW‘s. In my article, “The Social Justice Trap” I discussed how SJW‘s like to infect and divide every movement that they are able to infiltrate. Sadly, the libertarian movement has been no exception.
Instead of using the force of government (for now) these groups like to use tactics such as shaming and slandering those who may have said or done something that may have offended their politically correct sensibilities. They also use the threat of boycotts to make certain organizations bend to their will as they did when they pressured Target stores to stop selling one of the Grand Theft Auto games. They have gotten people fired from their jobs and others expelled from certain organizations.
Vox starts the book off by discussing his own experiences in dealing with the SJW‘s when he tried to run for president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild. Before making his bid, Day had written several blogs that offended the sensibilities of the SJW‘s (he is never specific of what was in those blogs) and they would be used against him by his SJW opponents who attacked him mercilessly. Day not only lost his bid in a landslide, but also his SJW opponents tried to get him expelled from the guild.
One of my favorite chapters of the book was the one that discussed Gamergate. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the Gamergate movement, it was basically a movement that was countering the feminist takeover of the video game industry. While I knew that there was a movement that was pushing back on the feminist takeover of the game industry, I never knew what triggered it. I always thought that it was feminists like Anita Sarkeesan who were spreading falsehoods about games to advance her claims that they were encouraging misogyny. While she is briefly mentioned in the book, Gamergate came about after the creation of a game called Depression. In this game, the player who suffers from depression goes to a psychiatrist and chooses the type of drugs to treat it. Sounds fun doesn‘t it? It actually makes the E.T. Atari game, which was so notoriously bad that there were rumors that there were surplus copies buried in the New Mexico desert, look like Assassins Creed.
Despite how ridiculously bad the game sounds, gamer magazines actually gave it good reviews. This led many to question the integrity of these magazines to the point where some speculated that the woman who designed the game was exchanging sexual favors for good reviews from the gaming press. Since the person who designed the game was not only a woman, but a feminist to boot, gamers who questioned the reviews of this joke of a game where accused of misogyny by both the SJW‘s and the press that supported them. This angered many gamers, so a counter movement was led by Adam Baldwin of Firefly fame. The backlash from this movement was so great that not only did the feminists lose their grip on the gaming industry, but many of the journalists who responded to the members of Gamergate with libel were either fired or forced to resign from their jobs.
Another thing that I liked about the book was the chapter that had a How to Guide in dealing with the SJW‘s that are trying to destroy your life. I am not going to go through all the steps. If you want to see them, buy the book. I pretty much agreed with most of the steps. One of which is to never apologize for offending a SJW, since you will be admitting to wrong doing, which actually gives your enemies the high ground. I also agreed that you should document every encounter you have with SJW‘s, since they will lie about it later. He even tells us to award those who back off and keep hammering those who refuse.
The one thing that I would add to Day‘s How To section, is that we need to create a counter movement that is dedicated not just to one industry like in the case of Gamergate, but one that is dedicated to battling SJW‘s, no matter where they strike. We should use the movement to attack organizations that cave to their demands. As a conservative friend of mine told me, no matter how big or small a movement may be, the one that screams the loudest gets its way. That is why we have to let these businesses know that there will be greater backlash from people like us then a small band of raving lunatics. We really have to push back on these SJW nut-jobs before they compromise our freedom any further.
I strongly recommend that you read this book. It not only shows the devious tactics used by SJW‘s to bully people into compliance, but it gives us a guide on how to counter these tactics.
