Feeding the Ducks
by L. Neil Smith
Robert Heinlein said that the smaller any unit of government
happens to be, the harder it is to move. It's relatively easy to make
enough fuss to alter the course of a federal government, for example,
but everybody "knows" you can't fight City Hall and that the most
viciously dictatorial level of government is the school board.

’Tolerance’ sounds great. But is there no limit to what we can wisely ’tolerate?’
by Vin Suprynowicz
Charles C. Haynes, who works out of Gannett’s financially strapped
“Newseum” in Washington, holds a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity
School and promotes himself as a champion of the First Amendment
(though, being a statist Democrat, he has of course written in favor of
federal “anti-hate-speech” legislation.

The Lone Writer Theory
by J. Kent Hastings
I listened to the unabridged audiobook edition of Stephen King's novel
11.22.63, after being favorably impressed by the first episode of
Hulu's eight-part miniseries. The story is of a time-traveling teacher
from 2011 interacting with the JFK assassination. The miniseries
starts from 2016. Both effectively portray the shocking differences
between the 21st Century and circa 1960, including music, dancing and
food of the time as well as the inevitable social commentary about
colored restrooms and sexism.

Anarchy—A Religion?
by Paul Bonneau
I had a completely unexpected response when I posted the previous
article, “A Game of Nuclear Chicken” on an anarchist forum. Here I thought I
was just making a simple request that could be discussed: 1) whether
Hillary was more likely to kick off a nuclear war than Trump, and 2)
whether either was very likely at all, regardless of their
differences, to kick one off (clearly, even if Hillary was twice as
likely as Trump to do so, for example, we needn’t worry about it
much if her chance of starting one is 0.000002 compared to his 0.000001).

A Country Full of Traitors
by Nic Leobold
The corrupt, failing, pathetic nation called “united States of
America”, with a fake “Constitution” that both fails to prevent
duplicitous reading and interpretation and also is completely ignored
as a matter of routine by the nation's injustice system, most
government officers and major institutions, and national policies that
glorify murdering and defrauding most of its citizens not to mention
many foreign nationals, today has less claim to being “the Exceptional
Nation” its neocon pundits and think tanks boast of than ever
before.

Not a Rant
by A.X. Perez
Opponents of Campus Concealed Carry at UT Austin protested last
week by carrying dildos. Strangely, this was a violation of
Texas’s obscenity laws, but proponents of C Cubed supported
their right to do so as an exercise of free speech and an “If
you want to show off your toys, more power to you.” Proponents
of C Cubed also reminded their opponents that if they had to use
their dildos as defensive weapons they risked being in violation of
the Texas law against carrying clubs as weapons in public. To repeat
an earlier point, the supporters of C Cubed expressed their support
for the First Amendment right of their opponents protesting others
exercising their Second Amendment right.

The AltRight: Paul Gottfried Interviewed by Sean Gabb
by Sean Gabb
Now that Mrs Clinton has mentioned it, the Alternative Right is much
in the news. Here is an interview I conducted in Bodrum with Paul
Gottfried, generally accepted as the Founding Father of the
Alternative Right. The interview dates from 2007, a year before, he
made his AltRight speech to the Mencken Conference in Washington. The
interview covers what Paul thinks is wrong with the American
conservative movement, and what he would do to make it better.
