Philosopher: ‘Having Children is Immoral’

It’s widely believed that the beginning of the Hippocratic
Oath�history’s most famous medical document�states
“First, do no harm.”
It actually doesn’t. Nevertheless, this sentiment is the
driving principle behind philosophy professor David Benatar’s
argument that “people should never, under any circumstance,
procreate.”
Benatar—the head of the philosophy department at the University
of Cape Town, South Africa—first laid out his case for
“anti-natalism” in his 2006 book Better Never to Have
Been, and provides a reiteration of it in a recently published
essay on Aeon titled “Kids? Just say no.”

Well, now. Benatar thinks people are awful and wants them all dead. So … why doesn't he kill himself? Oh, right, he wants you and me to kill ourselvs first. Or instead. Of course, I am talking logic, and what does a professor of philosophy know about logic, eh? Er ….
Book of the week, read it a long time ago, and
it is still a good one:

Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. It is way
better than that movie, although on its own terms the movie was pretty
good, for a movie containing very little of the book it was “based
on”. Hollywood. What can ya do.
