“Gun control is the idea that it’s better to see a woman dead in an alley, strangled
with her own pantyhose, than to see her with a gun in her hand.”—T.D. Melrose

Attribute to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise

Winner of five prestigious Prometheus Awards for pro-freedom literature, L. Neil Smith has written for publication (and against the grain) since grade school, and for the market—beginning with Guns Magazine—since 1969.

He started his first novel, The Probability Broach in 1977; it quickly became the definitive novel of the libertarian movement; he is presently finishing his 35th, Only The Young Die Good. They, and all his books between, have unflinchingly and uncompromisingly revolved around the philosophy and politics of individual liberty, self-defense, and the right to own and carry weapons.

In 1998, when the Founder of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, Aaron Zelman, asked him to collaborate on a novel, The Mitzvah, he'd already written dozens of very stiffly polemic essays on the absolute nature of the Second Amendment, and hundreds more have followed, some of which can be found on the JPFO website, others in his two essay books Lever Action and Down With Power, and many more of which are at L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise (http://www.ncc-1776.org/), which he founded and is now in its 23rd year of publication. They later wrote Hope, about the first fully-Constitutional President, which has proven prophetic in many ways.

Neil has been a Life Member of the NRA since 1974, and is an Honorary Life Member of JPFO.

He is also an Eagle Scout.

The knife pictured … is a 12-inch Cold Steel Sax machete (no longer in production). It is a working knife, and legal to carry most places in Texas as a weapon or tool. This sample is shaving sharp, but not quite smooth enough, you will draw blood shaving with it. It is patterned on the seax, the “every day carry knife” (EDCK) of the Germanic people of Northern Europe getting through the Middle ages. Some seax were up to 20 inches long, almost qualifying as short swords.

The Rearguard
by Sarah A. Hoyt
Mind the dying beast. It’s when it bites the fiercest. Sometime in 2004, as the left made a great noise all around, and I was afraid John Kerry would win, not because I liked George W. Bush much, but because I was afraid what our retreating from Iraq just then would mean, in terms of my sons’ having to go and fight that war again in worse conditions (yes, I know it’s still a possibility not to say probability) a friend told me the left is noisiest and most visible when they feel they’re losing.

Bump stocks and the Bill of Rights
by Vin Suprynowicz
The Senate Judiciary committee heard testimony Dec. 8 on a proposal to try to outlaw “bump stocks”—devices that allow light, modern, semi-automatic rifles to fire at rates similar to machine pistols. As usual when bizarre new “gun control” proposals surface, the victim-disarmament gang hope to capitalize on a recent mass shooting by someone who’d been using mood-altering drugs—the gunman found dead after allegedly employing “bump stocks” as he killed 58 people and injured some 500 others, shooting out of his hotel room window at an outdoor concert crowd in Las Vegas Oct. 1 (though some experts have expressed the opinion he probably could have killed more people if he’d taken single, aimed shots.)

The Continuing Fall of Social Media
by Sean Gangol
Once again, it seems as if the freedom movement has found another obstacle in advancing individual liberty. This time it comes from the very tools that should be helping us spread our message. The Social Media companies are once again trying to censor the speech of conservatives and libertarians. Last year I wrote an article titled “The Fall of Social Media” where I discussed the ramifications of social media companies who chose to censor their users.

An exciting excerpt from The Fractal Man
by J. Neil Schulman
For our next mission Simon and I were attached to a TacStrike battalion providing support services to multiversal gate patrols in a continuum allied with the Cadre. For those of you who haven’t read or seen Alongside Night, TacStrike is the Cadre’s military arm. This was not a flying world; it most resembled paraverses that Simon and I came from. We’d feel right at home.
