The fact is that there is vanishingly little racismin America (trust me. Take a tour of Europe or yeahthe middle East and you’ll see racism.)

Illusions
The weapon in the picture above is a Sten gun. It was designed by Shepherd and Turpin and manufactured at Enfield, hence it's name. It had a variety of flaws but it was cheap and easy to make and became widely used. Some claim it was designed to be made in home workshops. It has in fact been so produced in Pakistan's Northwest Frontier, among other locations.
Except in extreme emergency I do not recommend making your own Sten gun. First off it's illegal. Secondly, it does require a certain amount of skill and training you may lack. Finally, you may have trouble getting appropriate materials (the right steels for the springs for example).
This would be a great product for organized crime to manufacture. Even if it were the only gun that could be made in this manner it would demonstrate the futility of gun control. It isn't. Criminals can make, sell, and buy all the weapons they wish. Maniacs wanting to pull massacres have a black market to equip them for their moment of notoriety. Patriots wishing to rise up against tyrants can make or buy their weapons readily.
However for the public an illusion of safety is created. An illusion is also created that the bosses can't be resisted, make evil easier to accept, encouraging the bosses to act more tyrannically.
Then people start making and buying Sten guns.
