"It is okay for things to fall apart if they were not very well designed to begin with," said my great aunt Dori Adams.   And, indeed, things that are poorly designed are falling apart, now, as they ever have.

The government of the United States was poorly designed.   It was designed in 1787 to usurp power, concentrate it in a national government, prevent the people from having standing to contest any actions by the government, and to reduce their freedoms again and again.  So, for the purposes of those who designed it to create a gigantic plantation with an elite in power and everyone else serving that elite, perhaps it was a successful design.  For the purposes of a free people, it has been terrible.

Things did not get better after the war between the states 1861 to 1871. Things did not get better after the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913.  Things did not get better after the abrogation of the Posse Commitatus act which settled the aforementioned war between the states, which abrogation happened at a church near Waco in 1993.  Things did not get better after two planes were flown into buildings in New York City, after which three buildings there collapsed.  Things are not going to get better by themselves.

Crypto-Anarchy
As things have gone from bad to worse, decade after decade, an century after century, many people have turned to "mere anarchy."  One author, Henry David Thoreau, described the ideal of anarchism as people taking care of their own needs by themselves, as "ripe fruit which has fallen from the vine."  Other authors such as Lysander Spooner have pointed out that the constitution is of no authority and the people are and of right ought to be free. 

One of the most interesting developments of the 20th Century was the advent of a deliberately decentralised communications network called the Internet. Its decentralisation was intended to provide for ongoing and continuous communications in the event of a nuclear war, so that if any nodes are remaining they can route messages amongs themselves.  It works really well.  And by decentralising control of information, it has changed everything.

By 1988, Tim May had recognised that the Internet changes how information is controlled, by whom, and how.  At that same time, public source encryption had replaced secret codes as the main technology for keeping information private.  Right around then, the "free software " movement was very advanced, and was becoming the open source software movement.  Since then, digital gold has come and gone, and more decentralised Bitcoin and four thousand other digital currencies have arisen to take its place.  What Tim May wrote in 1988, the crypto-anarchist manifesto, has proven to be a valid prediction of the future.

Today there is a furour over 3D printing.   It won't be stopped by people complaining about it.  It will go on and on forever.  Today there are many decentralised, private communications services using encryption technologies.  Signal, Telegram, Zoom, Zyptonite, ProtonMail, Hushmail, and many others exist, and even Thunderbird email client has Enigmail as a plugin for those of us who like to manage our own public key rings. 

The system of a "managed society" was proven wrong a hundred years ago.  It was shown to be inconsistent with Godel's incompleteness theorem, to be inconsistent with quantum mechanics and uncertainty, and to be impossible given the economic calculation problem.   For a century the evil scum who run the world's governments and giant banks and giant defence contractor companies have been slaughtering men and women, enslaving them, subjugating them, imprisoning some and torturing others, for their pretence of control.

The truth is, they have no control.  They never had any control.  All they had was force and the illusion of control that comes with killing people who opposed them.  Since the creation of the absurdly disgusting and vile Federal Reserve system hundreds of millions of people have been slaughtered in wars and genocides funded by the central bankers of this world. 

A Day of Reckoning
There is no way for the current systems of command and control to remain.  Those who believe they are destined for great power over others are not going to be able to remain in control.  Their systems are badly designed and are falling appart.

The time for building new systems, new ways of doing things, and new forms of cooperation is at hand.  And it is going along very well, indeed.
