Code Is Speech
by John Walker
There is a fundamental principle at stake in the current controversy,
ignorantly reported and heavily spun, over the recent U.S. State Department settlement with
Defense Distributed and the Second Amendment Foundation in which Defense Distributed essentially
won the case it had been pursuing since 2015, clearing it to distribute design files for the
manufacture of firearms and components which can be used to produce them via additive manufacturing (“3D printing”).
This principle is much simpler and more fundamental than the cloud of confusion and ignorance spread like squid
ink by the slavers who prefer a disarmed and dependent population at their mercy. It goes to the
heart of free speech, and we’ve been here before.

The One Unifying Issue
by Steve Vandervelde
The one unifying issue is the only thing that unites
divergent ideological factions. In the case of all the socialists from
liberals to Marxists, because liberalism as defined by the French revolution
is just a watered down theory of socialism, if we consider that the driving
idea of socialism is existential egalitarianism, equality of results, in that
case the central issue is destruction of property rights. Property rights is
the basis of all other individual rights because all individual rights are
the result of self-ownership as the root meaning of the concept of individual
right. The idea of property rights is impossible without reference to an
owner. Socialism represents the destruction of property rights as the
collectivization of property, thus delivering control and ownership of
individual property to the group, the agents of the state.

Things Fall Apart
by Jim Davidson
"It is okay for things to fall apart if they were
not very well designed to begin with," said my great aunt Dori Adams.
And, indeed, things that are poorly designed are falling apart, now,
as they ever have.

After 50 years, the patient victims of Leftist oppression
finally begin to resist. So the Left, of course, accuses them of
‘starting a war.’
They haven’t yet SEEN war.
by Vin Suprynowicz
CNN “media reporter” Brian Stelter Wednesday
accused President Donald Trump of leading a “hate movement”
against establishment press reporters and commentators (if they any longer
pretend to draw that distinction.)

Suicide Pact
by Sean Gangol
It never seizes to amaze me that there are actual
companies who care more about advancing their political agenda than they do
about their bottom line, almost to the point where they are willing to commit
professional suicide. In the early stages of this article, I was going to use
the NFL allowing their players to kneel during the National Anthem, despite
it being extremely unpopular with the fans, as a prime example of how a
certain company cares more about advancing the cause of social justice than
they do appeasing their customers. I know that there are many who would
consider this issue trivial, but from a financial standpoint you have to
admit that it is completely absurd to anger the very people who butter your
bread, just so you can appear politically correct to your social justice
buddies. The problem is that I had written this article months before the NFL
officials actually reversed their stance on the National Anthem when they
finally got the hint after the record-low TV ratings and seeing their
million-dollar athletes play in half-empty stadiums.

Another Day at the Tinfoil Festival
by Jeff Fullerton
And now it is the weekend of the UFO Festival in
Kecksburg and Saturday I was mulling the prospect of writing a follow up to
the article I wrote and published in this journal several years ago. Again I
was busy much of the day taking care of business around home and then
checking up on my Uncle and cutting his grass and before long it was the end
of the day and the prospect of going to Kecksburg—let alone just winging an
article in time to meet the Saturday night deadline was obviously a
non-starter. That was obvious as I noted the fireworks display that initially
looked like heat lightning on my drive home from Connellsville.

Social Security Card - DID YOU KNOW?
by Author Unknown
Actually, President Kennedy and Sergeant Shriver were the
first ones to misuse the SS account. They used SS funds to start the Peace
Corps. Not the first or last time our money has been taken from American
citizens and given to foreign nations.
