I am here to tell you that peaceful
submission to evil is not only not a
higher morality, it is not morality
at all. It is a moral atrocity.

Special to L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise

“Robbers of the world, having by their universal plunder exhausted the land,
they rifle the deep. If the enemy be rich, they are rapacious; if he be poor, they
lust for dominion; neither the east nor the west has been able to satisfy them.
Alone among men they covet with equal eagerness poverty and riches.
To robbery, slaughter, plunder, they give the lying name of empire; they
make a wasteland and call it peace (ubi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant).”
—Calgacus of the Caledonii, according to Tacitus, AD 83

Hundreds of years before the current era (about 300 BC) the Caledonii lived in the highlands of what is today Scotland. Our people built round houses which symbolised the equality amongst us, that there was no hierarchical elite, no imposed aristocracy in our culture. Today we have a stateless tribe.

Caledonian culture is very old. We have many traditions, and we come from many walks of life, levels of economic success, and places on Earth. After the battle with the Romans under Agricola, the proudest of us took ship and travelled. Many Caledonians became nomads in those years. All through the Baltic and all along the Western shores of Europe, our clans moved and shaped our own destinies. Some of the nomads amongst us travelled across Asia in the centuries following Agricola. Some of us travelled across Africa. Some migrated amongst the islands of the Pacific. Others came to the New World as it is now called. There are many stories of specific travels, enterprises, and activities which are being added to a compendium of our histories.

It is important to acknowledge that as a result of moving about, we are not all of one religious preference. We do not require anyone accept the tenets of any particular religion, nor do we insist that anyone espouse any religion at all. Whether a person is atheist or religious, there is room for them in our tribe. We are all Caledonians.

We are committed most of all to the path of peace, to the zero aggression principle. We believe in defending ourselves and one another, but not in being aggressive, not initiating force. We are not pacifists nor passivist aggressives, we are defenders of our freedom and people.

Sonora Jack and Friends are members of a stateless tribe. We believe in simple rules like the zero aggression principle, and we do not believe in rulers. We're looking for other good people with whom to work.
