Two people do not have more rights
than one person, or two hundred, or
two thousand, or two million, any more
than they have more intelligence or decency.

Attribute to L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise

Not to bury the lede: I have sources (I’ve always wanted to say that) that tell me that Jamal Khashoggi, the “journalist” murdered so gruesomely with knives and swords and saws and things at the Saudi Arabian embassy in Turkey, was actually a CIA “asset” who hadn’t written a genuine article in years.

I know nothing, absolutely nothing, about relations between the Saudis and the Agency. Foreign policy is not my long suit. But I do know that the CIA, a sort of a government unto itself—if not a nation-state like the Vatican—is no friend to President Donald J. Trump or to individual liberty in general, that they have guessed wrong about or simply missed most of the critical historical events of the last century (like the 9/11 attacks and the collapse of the Soviet Empire, for godsake!), that their stupid self-important blundering is responsible for prolonging the war in Vietnam, costing thousands of lives, and for our loss of Cuba, that many observers of history believe they engineered the assassination of another of their enemies, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and that their mendacious meddling in Syria and the Black Sea may end us up in an atomic shooting war with Russia.

I don’t know about anybody else, but if the CIA assured me it was daytime, I’d look up at the sky just to make sure. These are not good people, with all due respect to Tom Clancy. (To me, Clancy’s CIA work has always resembled Jack Webb’s attempts to whitewash the putrescently corrupt LAPD in the 1950s and 1960s.) Any country that relies on their advice or takes their direction in a crisis is in deep defecation. They serve their own interests—many of which seem quite evil— and neither individuals nor entire nations they see standing in their way or failing to serve them, will be immune to their attacks.

Here, in a pistachio shell, is what I think happened to Khashoggi, and if I’m wrong, I’ll be ecstatic because it’s a pretty ugly story. I think the CIA coldbloodedly decided to sacrifice one of their own, whom they considered not very important. Wrapped up in their robes, and toting all that iron, they savagely butchered the poor man to embarrass the President, shake up relations between us and our second most important middle eastern ally, deeply wound the Saudi Royal family just when it’s struggling to enter the 21st century, and inflict what damage they could on Trump’s economy. (Talk about collectivist group punishment—the very first, knee-jerk sanctions suggested would have cost Americans thousands of jobs and billions of dollars.)

It’s hard to prove or disprove this or any theory when one of the major investigating agencies consists of the likely criminals themselves, but it may have a certain predictive value. Watch out for a parallel series of events aimed at deeply damaging our relations with Israel. Again, if I’m wrong, I’ll be delighted.

I think this whole hot mess will eventually cool off, simply adding another layer of mindless muttering to the left wing background “wall of sound” about Russia and pussy-grabbing and such, while all of the really important questions (Who killed Seth Rich or anybody else on Hillary’s Arkancide list clear back to Vincent Foster?) remain unanswered. The Donald will go on belligerently improving our lives and stubbornly keeping us safe and makig us laugh at imbeciles like Maxine Waters until the Lilliputians of the left manage to tie him down (if they ever do) with a thousand strings of bitter resentment for their loss of the socialist Utopia they’ve been looking forward to forcibly imposing on the rest of us since about 1876.

Sorry, Bernie, Edward Bellamy is dead.

Sorry, Chuckie.

Sorry, Alexandria.

Given the grinding poverty, the collapsing infrastructure, the environmental disasters the media never like to talk about, the tens of millions of needless deaths in parts of the world under socialist control in the 20th century, I’d say that Trump’s priorities and his grim determination to save Western Civilization—from itself if necessary—are just about right.
