There Is No Such Thing As “Socialism”
by L. Neil Smith
When I wrote the celebrated space pirate novel Henry
Martyn, way back in 1988, I wanted it to be about an ancient
star-spanning civilization, not entirely unlike our own, based on
euphemism—a culture in which nobody ever said exactly what he (or
she) meant. In that society, it would be considered ill-mannered—and a moral
confession in a milieu where, just as a single example, arranged,
profitable, and politically advantageous marriages, are forced on innocent
young women in a custom known as “gavage”—the process by which geese are
force-fed to render their ruined livers a gourmet delicacy.

All Enemies Foreign and Domestic

Admission
by Jim Davidson
I’d like to be among the first people to note that my
expectations of rioting on 7 November 2018 did not take place. As near as I
can tell no really tremendous event of great importance took place that day.
So I have no clarity about why I was led to anticipate an eventful day at
that time. On the other hand, there are always the things we don’t yet know
about that happened on that day, so it isn’t clear that the premonition was
pointless. It only seems that way right now.

Welcome to the Shit Show
by Harding McFadden
Being offended has been effectively weaponized by the
political Left. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has payed
attention over the last fifty years, with Orwell and Dick using the idea to
such effect, but the incredible way that this weapon of opportunity has been
used by those opponents of freedom that are pasted across every news source
is truly staggering.

Will there never be a counterattack?

The midterm elections? Clearly Donald Trump, a genuine

How to Watch Korean Shows

If you’re like me, you have long ago gotten very tired
of the constant drumbeat of ugly leftist culture and propaganda coming from
Hollywood. But, you still might want to vegetate on the couch after a hard

“Which if not Victory is Yet Revenge”
Thoughts on the Tory Apocalypse
by Sean Gabb
As I write, those who demand a second referendum on the
European Union seem ever more likely to have their way. Their argument is:
that it is now two years since we were asked to vote on leaving; that no one
expected the process of leaving to end in the present shambles; that we
should be asked what we now think of leaving. These calls are an obvious
fraud on the electorate. Since the French rejected the Maastricht Treaty in
1992, the custom in Europe has been for any unfavourable referendum result
to be followed by another vote, in which the preferred result is given. This
was done to the Danes and the Irish. It is now being done to us.

VONU but not Invulnerable
by Jim Davidson
This week I was asked about my views regarding Vonu. I
first heard about Vonu sometime after 1987 when RW Bradford had published
about an article by Wally Congre about it in Liberty magazine. One of my
friends in, as I recall the conversation, Tucson L5 Society was in Houston
to talk about the space launch services purchase act, and whether we could
sufficiently reform NASA so that the private sector would open the door to
space.

Bisht and Jambiya

Not to bury the lede: I have sources (I’ve always wanted
to say that) that tell me that Jamal Khashoggi, the “journalist” murdered so
gruesomely with knives and swords and saws and things at the Saudi Arabian
embassy in Turkey, was actually a CIA “asset” who hadn’t written a genuine
article in years.
