Norseman’s Diaries
Supplemental Entry:
A New Lease on Life!

Been a productive yet manic week. A major renovation of the Florida Room is ongoing while America continues to melt down. It’s more or less a race against time to get it done so I can at least say I got it done before the darkness closes in.
In a world where people cannot even own responsibility for the consequences of their own dietary habits and other life choices on top of the likes of the future Nazis and Khmer Rouge rampaging in American cities—what else is there? I could have made it about the ugly stuff but would rather focus on a supplemental entry to the diaries of which I’m currently in the process of editing—a spring and midsummer edition that I hope to have out in a few weeks.
Started my Saturday off at Honda to get an oil change and a long overdue Auto Butler treatment and ended up getting a new car!
I had been offered the opportunity earlier this week to transition to a new lease. I’m guessing they need used cars and want to clear 2020 inventory. I considered it carefully. It’s better than buying the one I was in. And now that I don’t have to go to C’ville all the time it will be easier to keep the mileage down. So I went for it.
Meet the new car. Same as the old one. Pretty much. Even the same color which made it easier since I loved my red 2018 Civic! It’s a 2020 which makes it a milestone car for a milestone year! Maybe a new lease on life which is ironic since it’s more or less a reboot of my original leasing agreement which I was going to max out well before the end date next March. It’s an improvement much like the low interest signature loan that allowed me to start digging out of debt last year.
I was off from there for Monroeville to visit Elmer’s finally. To stock up on feed and supplies and maybe some new fish and plants. Then head back home to catch up and hunker down.
Made it home late afternoon with my new lease and maybe a new lease on life. Scored good with a dip net handle from Scotty’s and Texas Cichlids, plants and freshwater mysis shrimp cubes from Elmer’s. They were out of bloodworms so I had to go to PetCo across the way to get and also found containers of live moss so I can finally do the small Vivarium and a gallon jar of Zoo Med maintenance pellets for adult turtles and a can of newt pellets. Been looking for the latter for quite a while!
The four Texas Cichlids which I’ve started acclimating to my water while I figure out how to get the Rosy Reds out of the upper tank of the new duo; which will be the grow out tank for a while until they move on to the 150. I could just throw them in with the current occupants and let them eat those up but I’d like to get use out of the minnows in the DD system outside or to restart the tub in the Florida Room. Currently I have the cichlids in a bucket where I’m gradually mixing in tank water.
I’m kind of at an impasse with everything else. Temperature nearing the century mark so I don’t want to do much outside until the sun drops over the hills. Might be a good time to run back out and take care of grocery shopping and pick up some more foam at the hardware store. Then I can get started making the rock face for above the spillway tonight.
If I can get that done this weekend I can do measurements for the remaining portions of the walls I want covered and get the Table back in place sooner rather than later and just build and add on the new sections as time and resources permit. That way I can start getting the setup back in order and free up the space to get the show on the road with the acquisition of the 150.
And get the remainder of the basement and other things in order. Time is of the essence.
