Foolish Man

I once read somewhere that singer/composer David Crosby (of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, among other aggregations) has said that if he’d known he was going to live this long, he would have taken better care of his teeth. Wouldn’t we all? I looked it up, and that saying is attributed to a great many other people—including Mickey Mantle—which, given Crosby’s expropriative outlook, makes a kind of demented sense.
I have often had uncomplimentary things to say about Democrats, and somehow I never remember to explain that it is Democrat leadership that I hate, loathe, and despise. I actually have friends—some of them very dear to me—who are registered Democrats. You know who you are. But Democrat leadership consists of more than elected officials or pointy-headed academics. They also have cultural leaders, and this schmuck has been one of them for six decades.
This paragon of peace, love, and understanding could never get along with anybody he worked with for more than a few months at a time.
What Crosby should have taken better care of is his brain, to whatever extent he ever possessed one. Over the last sixty years, even though he and his 1960s’ countercultural ilk filled their skulls with unnumbered tons of noxious chemicals, we’re supposed to trust his mental faculties. In fact, the man has clearly devolved, over the years, into nothing more than a cheesy cookie-cutter communist mouthpiece.
Crosby now declares that, for the unforgivable crime of creating the only television network on the planet—FOX—where dissent against the trendy leftist orthodoxy can be found, Rupert Murdoch (with whom, my regular readers know, I have more than one grievance, myself) should be executed. Crosby’s opinion of Donald Trump comes straight out of the same bubblegum comic, as well. It’s almost embarrassing how little this man, to whom we listened for decades, knows about history and human nature. Presumably the stumbling, bumbling, mumbling crepuscularity presently squatting in the White House is more to his liking.
But here’s the news, Dave, from somebody who was paying attention. The Sixties are long over. The glorious revolution that you and your cohorts always looked forward to (I was there, too, and I remember) is being run by the likes of Nasty Pelosi and China Joe Biden. Any honest individual would have to fight the urge to vomit. Hang ’em up while you can still do so with a tiny modicum of dignity, Dave. That’s a modicum more than you deserve.
