Attribute to L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise
I started reading L. Neil Smith's books back in the late Eighties or so. Somewhere along the line I began reading his blogs and other internet postings, and eventually began reading TLE. I began corresponding with him when I wrote to wish him well as he recovered from a broken foot. Can't decide if we were pen pals or if I was a fan boy who got to correspond regularly with his star. Along the way we temporarily were involved with some of our other friends in a correspondence group I think of as the ODDfellows (Obstructive Defiance Disorder) to reflect our distrust of government trying to grab unwonted power.
More importantly, we swapped jokes and notes on our families. Our friendship was more than just two people sharing political ideals. I hope he is in a Valhalla where he and others can have fun debating if .405 WCF, .416 Rigby, or of course, .45-70 is the best round for hunting bison, with plenty of time in the field testing their theories. Afterwards they can compare various whiskies and tell lies about haw well the rounds and the guns using them performed.
I'm sorry I never got to swing up by Ft. Collins to say hi. If there is an afterlife maybe I'll get to visit him in his Valhalla for a shot at a buffalo and to share shots of uisge beagh.
