RIP, Sharon Presley. An announcement on her Facebook account: "I’m very sorry to have to let you know that Sharon died on October 31. I’m also sorry that I don’t have many details except that she was in the ICU at Adventist Memorial in Lodi. Her partner Art was able to say goodbye. She appreciated you all very much. This is Ellen. Unfortunately, Sharon wasn't able to see your posts, but she was very moved by all the support you told us to pass on."

Sharon was one of the founders of Laissez Faire books in Greenwich Village, a neighborhood of New York City. She was active in the New York libertarian sceneat that time, along with Murray Rothbard, Samuel Edward Konkin, and Roy Childs. Her degrees were in psychology.

It’s Worse Than We Thought: COVID-19 Closures and Learning Loss A good article as far as it goes, but it misses a key point. The author seems to have missed Maria Montessori 101: kids develop at different rates, and differently in different subjects. The notion of all children being proficient to a certain standard at a certain age is bunk. Some kids simply will not read at grade level, and that's OK. We need to remember when dealing with standardized tests that kids are not standardized. And pray they never are.
