This week's motto, "Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." is from William Pitt the Younger, youngest British Prime Minister ever, at the tender age of 24. The quote is from debate on a bill to reform the East India Company offered by his political opponent, Charles James Fox.

“I have a very busy day job running a six billion dollar institute. I don’t have time to worry about things like the Great Barrington Declaration.” — Anthony Fauci, deposition, November 23, 2022

In This Issue

L. Neil Smith, long before Donald Trump, fires the Supreme Court for yet another idiotic decision.

L. Reichard White's title says it all: What Can You Learn About "The Green New Deal" from Thanksgiving?

Finally, our editor takes a look at a hard science libertarian science fiction series he's been enjoying from W. Michael Gear, disguised as a book review of the latest novel in the series.

The Gold Standard: Prospect & Retrospect 50 Years After the Bretton Woods System | Judy L. Shelton "If gold is such a worthless metal, then why does the US and all other major governments hold so much of it in storage?" — Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board

Speaking of firing the Supreme Court, here's a horrific reading of privacy in America today. Slouching Toward Fascism

An encouraging trend: Number Of Handgun Owners Carrying Daily Nearly Doubles In US However, I wonder about the accuracy of the survey. Many gun owners will not discuss their firearms related habits with unknown callers (and rightly so). Also, more conservative folks are less likely to participate in surveys than more liberal folks. So the real increase may be understated.
