Re: "Some Thoughts on Government Vs. Free-Market Police Services" by Michael Bradshaw Allow me to be about the 1,000,000th or so reader to point out that it was Robert A. Heinlein who originally said "an armed socirty s a polite society." Scary to see a sailor and a marine agree. A.X. Perez

Great Comeback Line In summary, the police arrested Patrick Lawrence, 22 year old white male, in a pumpkin patch 11:38 p.m. on Friday night. On Monday, at the Gwinnett County (GA) courthouse, Lawrence was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, public indecency, and public intoxication. The suspect explained that as he was passing a pumpkin patch on his way home from a drinking session when he decided to stop, "You know how a pumpkin is soft and squishy inside, and there was no one around for miles or at least I thought there wasn't anyone around" he stated in a telephone interview. Lawrence went on to say that he pulled over to the side of the road, picked out a pumpkin that he felt was appropriate to his purpose, cut a hole in it, and proceeded to satisfy his alleged 'need.' "Guess I was really into it, you know?" he commented with evident embarrassment. In the process of doing the deed, Lawrence failed to notice an approaching police car and was unaware of his audience until officer Brenda Taylor approached him. "It was an unusual situation, that's for sure," said officer Taylor. "I walked up to Lawrence and he's just banging away at this pumpkin." Officer Taylor went on to describe what happened when she approached Lawrence. "I said, "Excuse me sir, but do you realize that you're having sex with a pumpkin?" He froze and was clearly very surprised that I was there, and then he looked me straight in the face and said... "A pumpkin? Shit... is it midnight already?" Chris Claypoole

Cabbages, Kings, and Many Other Things Re: "Darfur: Crusade of Hypocrisy" by Daniel G. Jennings The fight in the Darfur is not a Christian/ Moslem fight. It is a fight between Arab and Black Moslems. Yup, you got it. At least in the Sudan the "white" Moslems are as racist as any cross burning darky lynching Klansman in 1920's Illinois. They also raid the Christian and animist tribes in the southern part of Sudan for slaves. It is easy to decry, but unless you are prepared to go in, completely destroy the government (as in kill all its members and execute any military officer of the rank of colonel or above), destroy the Arab clans as functional social groups, and put Sudan under foreign rule the three generations or so it will take to create a new, more humane culture (can you say imperialism?) you aren't going to change this. And if we try, the fact is Clooney and company will be down in front of the White House marching against the war they instigated before the first American soldier or marine on the ground has to change rifle magazines. The same way they were all helping to instigate the invasion of Iraq until it actually happened. As for using mercs to help the rebels, reread the last page of The Dogs of War. Plus le change, Plus le meme merde. Re: "Evil Women" by L. Neil Smith War is god damned. It is one of our bigger sins. By definition, that which is sinful is damned by God. Those who engage in it when not cornered by the needs of defense against aggression are sinners and indeed damned by any true god(s)/goddess(es) that may exist ( I have my own opinions.). Whether or not women's tendency to fight all out and with no more warning than to land a solid kick or punch disqualify them from leadership of military forces I will not say. I have listed what qualifications will get you my support for Federal office. No woman seeking the Presidency or leadership in Congress even closely meets this list. Then again neither do most males. Re: Martin and Smith's exchange We don't need to convince a majority, or even a large minority to support libertarian ideals. Just enough people to bring in all the skill sets to create a viable society. Try buying food, ammo, medicine (or raw materials to make your own) or getting laid to spread your genes and memes without a society. Besides friendly debate is fun. Why not try to convince people to join us? A.X. Perez
True story but I can't name names. If you want to use it go ahead, no one will believe you: Back in the Sixties a family friend was married to an abusive husband. One day the husband finally went over the edge and pulled a gun. The story goes that the wife stated, "If you shoot me your life will still be a mess. Why don't you kill the person who's really messing up your life?" (or words to that affect.) The man replied "you're right," and shot himself. Three points to this story
The niece of the woman in question was very successful in speech and debate competition. Guess it runs in the family. A.X. Perez
