Attribute to The Libertarian Enterprise

There is a scene in one of the Terminator movies in which Sarah Connor tells Dr Silverman, the headshrinker, that, "You're the one living in a dream!" She goes on to say that everything they know is about to be obliterated and life after "Judgment Day" will be changed forever—for the few survivors.

One hopes that our future is less grim than that depicted in apocalyptic films, but in the aftermath of 9/11 even the government mouthpiece "mainstream" media were bleating that, "Nothing will be the same," and "Everything's changed," and so on.

That propaganda was used to prepare the masses for the "PATRIOT Act" and other police state measures, but there is an element of truth in it; since the imperial wars began, a chain reaction of uncontrollable events has been sweeping away the certainties of our daily lives. The only thing we can be sure of now is that things are going to get very interesting for the next couple of decades.

The current financial crisis may or may not be the final blow to the New World (dis)Order's economic system, but it is surely the beginning of its end. Like all empires throughout history, the U.S. empire has over-extended itself militarily and, therefor, financially. It cannot finance its wars any more, and it can't win them, either.

Too stupid to read the handwriting on the wall, the oligarchs who run roughshod over the world will only dig in their heels and confiscate ever more of the populace's earnings in a hopeless attempt to "bail out" their banker pals and "surge" to death the resistance in the occupied lands.

This will not work; it will only further enrage an already overtaxed citizenry at home and increase the rate at which the central governments of the empire and its principal colonies are destabilised and delegitimised. Increasing restrictions on travel and communication may stave off the wrath of the people thereby buying some time in the short run, but police state measures will only strangle the already gasping economies of the empire. The end result will be the same: economic and social collapse.

We have forever passed that stage at which the imperial brigandage even remotely benefits the masses. The peoples of the imperial heartlands will soon be impoverished, oppressed and terrorised by the military—just like the peoples of the colonies.

But it gets worse: a couple more little trends have been quietly sneaking up on us while we watched the telly and yapped brainlessly into our cell phones... The media's weapons of mass distraction, the "news", "global warming" hysteria, professional sports and the Oprah show will not be able to mask the coming disaster much longer: massive starvation and food riots on a global scale.

I know, you don't believe it. You've never heard of it on "the news". Heck, you have to look hard to find the evidence even on the 'Net. But the ineluctable facts remain, and they are these: that agribusiness has nearly ended species variation among the major food crops, and that colony collapse syndrome is about to reduce the food supply by 90%.

The government-subsidised agribusiness has found species variation in, say, wheat, to be inefficient. So only a handful of strains are now grown, compared to probably over a hundred different types fifty years ago. So what?

So... one little plant disease could annihilate most of the wheat in the world in a short time. With only a few varieties left, we may not have the option of re-seeding a variety that Fungus A can't affect. Variety isn't just the spice of life; it's the guarantor of life.

As if that weren't potential trouble enough, we have the actual present problem of the massive disappearance of the honeybee. Again, why would we care? Because all the higher forms of life on this planet depend on the pollinisation of the plants upon which those forms feed, including those carnivores and omnivores which feed upon the herbivores. In other words, if the bees don't make an immediate comeback, our stock portfolios will become irrelevant. We must eat to survive.

The cause of colony collapse syndrome is likely something that we are doing. The cell phones and their mass of signals are a likely culprit, but the industry has quickly trotted out its "scientists" to assure us that they cannot possible be the cause. The point will soon become moot, in any case.

With poor nutrition, even starvation, looming in the near future, our crowded cities will likely see epidemics of both old and new diseases. The poor hygiene habits (of almost everyone in North America who is less than fifty years old) are going to assist the Grim Reaper tremendously.

Do you think I'm alarmist? Am I imagining the increasing oppression by the imperial State? Have I imagined the wars? Are the famine conditions a fantasy? Are we immune from disease? As Sarah Connor said, "You're the one living in a dream!"

Look at the horizon: four horsemen are coming...

Be prepared; be very prepared.
