This Looks Like a Job for... The NRCC!

It says here legislation has been introduced in several states that will effectively make the Second Amendment a dead letter, not by controlling commercial traffic in guns, but by monitoring the sales of ammunition.

The vile old Democratic sleazebag senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan was famous for saying that ammunition was the key to undermining and destroying the unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human right of every man, woman, and responsible child to obtain, own, and carry, openly or concealed, any weapon—rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, anything—any time, any place, without asking anyone's permission. He introduced many bills in that area, including attempts to outlaw .25, .32, and .380 ammunition for "Saturday Night Specials"—poor people's guns—which were a sick liberal obsession at the time.

The way that "assault rifles" are today.

Now, carefully synchronized legislation to carry the elitist old boozer's evil work forward—no matter who is hurt by it—has been introduced in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington. If advocates and sponsors of the so-called "Ammunition Accountability Act" have their way, most of us will find it much more difficult and annoying to obtain ammunition, while those who typically live in the high-crime areas created by liberals, people who have been impoverished for generations by liberals, will find it impossible.

The legislation would require that all ammunition be encoded by the manufacturer, and a database of all ammunition sales created so the government—the very entity the Second Amendment was written to protect us from—will know how much ammunition you buy and in what calibers.

Nobody would be allowed to sell any ammunition after a certain date—the target is June 30, 2009—unless the ammunition is encoded.

Any privately-held uncoded ammunition would have to be destroyed by July 1, 2011. Naturally, this would include all hand-loaded cartridges, and, presumably, all future handloading would have to be prohibited.

A tax of five cents would be levied on every round of ammunition, so that every box of ammunition you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more.

Two things need to be accomplished immediately. First, the names of all of the sponsors of this legislation need to be collected and made public. Second, all of the statutes and regulations of the states involved, governing recall, impeachment, or any other forms of removal from office need to be collected and posted in the same cybernetic location.

The National Recall Coordinating Committees (NRCC) I wrote about in a recent issue of The Libertarian Enterprise has been offered hosting on a site safely outside the US. The day its website goes online will be the day the organization is truly born and starts working. It will not limit itself to legislators but will also collect data on judges and other officials who abuse the rights of a free people.

In the meantime, individuals in states where the "Ammunition Accountability Act" has been introduced—and others who want to get the NRCC up and running—may send information to The Libertarian Enterprise via nrcc@ncc-1776.org.

As for the idiots who made this mess, in the long run, it's got to cost them something. Thanks to their meddlesome and evil efforts, I am been inspired to suggest the following counter-measures which I urge you to advocate loudly, as often a you can, wherever and whenever you can:

First, because easy and equal access to firearms and ammunition are necessary to the security of a free state (where have we heard that before?), all taxes must be totally and permanently abolished on any stage of their manufacture, transportation, distribution, and sale.

It might even be wise to consider the issue of federal and state vouchers toward their purchase, to be deducted from law-enforcement funds.

There must be dollar-for-dollar tax deductions for gun and ammo purchases.

Airlines must offer hefty discounts to those who fly carrying a gun.

It's fair to say that if these measures had been firmly in place at the time, neither the Columbine massacre nor the deadly hijackings of 9/11 could have happened. Instead, thanks to lunatic liberal self-indulgence and political vanity, America is both less safe and less free than Benjamin Franklin could have imagined, even at his most pessimistic.

The time for that to stop is now.
