end the 200-year struggle against socialism."

Even though their numbers are shrinking, Obama still has zealous supporters that defend him, despite his short comings. I have had conversations with many Obama supporters and it seems like they all have two things in common. One of them is that they are in serious denial of Obama and his policies. The other thing that they have in common is the same tired excuses that they regurgitate every time somebody questions the wisdom of their beloved president.

Excuse # 1
People are being too hard on Obama. He hasn't been in office long enough to deal with the problems that he inherited.

It's hard to believe that people are still making this excuse, since he has been in office for over a year. So far he has succeeded in driving up our deficit into the trillions and has been an utter failure in creating jobs. Whenever the government tries to create jobs the only thing we end up is useless forms of bureaucracy. I would also like to point out that Obama's policies are basically rooted in failure. His stimulus plan was modeled after the same economic planning that contributed to Japan's 'Lost Decade." I also wouldn't count on Obama's attempt at creating "green jobs." Similar programs were attempted in Spain to no avail. Maybe we will have better luck. Perhaps hell will freeze over and Satan will ice skate with Nancy Kerrigan.

Excuse # 2
The reason why we even have a deficit is because of George W. Bush. Thanks to his costly war and the billion dollar bailouts, he helped put this country in debt.

This is partially true. It was King George who dragged us into a war that was both costly and unnecessary. He was the one who had to bailout companies that couldn't make sound decisions. Yes, Bush deserves his share of the blame. That doesn't absolve Obama of his little spending sprees. The stimulus and Cash for Clunkers program was Obama's doing. He even plans to spend more with another stimulus bill and with his Universal Healthcare bill, which has just recently been passed.

Excuse #3
Why don't you give Universal Healthcare a chance? Canada and European countries have government controlled healthcare and everybody says it is so wonderful.

Wonderful? Sure, if you can get passed a few flaws, such as rationing, lower quality, longer waits and fewer doctors. If our healthcare is so bad and theirs is so great, then why is there a significant number of Canadians who are coming to the US to have life saving operations performed? That is because the people of Canada have to get around the bureaucratic red tape just to get an MRI. There have even been cases where people have died while waiting for vital procedures. That is what I call death by bureaucracy. Comforting isn't it?

Excuse # 4
The only reason why you are criticizing Obama is because he is a black man. You just can't accept the fact that you have a black president.

This excuse never fails to amuse me. It used to make me mad every time someone would hide behind the race card. Now, I just laugh. Those who play the race card, do so out of desperation. They know that they no longer have an argument, so they have to sink to the level of name calling in a pathetic attempt to silence the opposition.

Obama supporters have been relatively silent on the promises that he has gone back on. He promised to close down Guantanamo Bay and release every so-called terror suspect that was being held without a trial. So far it remains open. Barrack also promised to put end to the raids on medical Marijuana dispensaries. Guess what, the DEA has yet to show any sign of letting up. Our Noble Peace Prize winning president has also gone back on his word to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He claims that he will get them out by 2011, but I wouldn't count on it. We also have that abomination known as the Patriot Act, still on the books despite the many opportunities that he and the rest of the democrats had to end it. In many ways Obama is George W. Bush: The Sequel. Despite his support for the same policies that they called Bush a Nazi over, they don't even acknowledge the same wrong doing in this administration.

The good news is that Obama supporters are starting to become fewer in number. Ever since he first proposed ramming that atrocious healthcare bill down our throats, his approval rate has shrunk down to 49%. Not as low as George W. Bush or Harry S. Truman, but it's still early yet. I have personally known people who voted for Obama, who now regret it. I think Lincoln was right when he said "you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people, all of the time."
