Mercantilism is the same thing that we now call "fascism"

Special to The Libertarian Enterprise

It now appears that Tony Hayward and his associates committed mass murder. It has been previously thought that the British Petroleum company, formerly known as Anglo Iranian Oil company, had been negligent in its actions with regard to the Deepwater Horizon rig. Hayward has been caught on camera belly-aching that he wants his life back. I say he should spend the rest of his life paying compensation to his victims.

Here is something new, or at least recent, about the disaster:

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/06/19/bp-disaster-started-in-february/

Excerpts:

"On Feb. 13, BP told the minerals service it was trying to seal cracks in the well about 40 miles (64 kilometers) off the Louisiana coast, drilling documents obtained by Bloomberg show. Investigators are still trying to determine whether the fissures played a role in the disaster. ... "

"This revelation shows that the disaster was far from unforeseen. In fact, it appears that it had already come close to a catastrophic blowout just six weeks before eleven people died in the subsequent explosion. BP didn't exactly keep it a secret, either. They informed MMS of the problem, which apparently did nothing to intervene in a situation serious enough that a similar situation caused Exxon to shut down its well in 2006."

Further, Hayward seems to have known about the situation and had taken dramatic action to preserve his own wealth. He sold a large amount of his shares in the company. About a third of his position was cleverly and deliberately sold before the disaster to pay off the mortgage on his family mansion.

"Tony Hayward cashed in about a third of his holding in the company one month before a well on the Deepwater Horizon rig burst, causing an environmental disaster. Mr Hayward, whose pay package is £4million a year, then paid off the mortgage on his family's mansion in Kent, which is estimated to be valued at more than £1.2million."

But that's chicken feed compared to the position that Goldman Sachs unloaded in the first quarter of 2010.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19591

According to regulatory filings, RawStory.com has found that Goldman Sachs sold 4,680,822 shares of BP in the first quarter of 2010. Goldman's sales were the largest of any firm during that time. Goldman would have pocketed slightly more than $266 million if their holdings were sold at the average price of BP's stock during the quarter. If Goldman had sold these shares today, their investment would have lost 36 percent its value, or $96 million. The share sales represented 44 percent of Goldman's holdings—meaning that Goldman's remaining holdings have still lost tens of millions in value.

So, murder. Hayward knew enough about the situation to fear a dramatic disaster that would have destroyed much of his own wealth. Minerals Management Agency (MMA) knew enough about the situation to alert the government's cronies in Goldman Sachs, or anyway Goldman was alerted in some way, and they sold an enormous position in BP.

But neither BP, nor Hayward, nor the government took actions prior to the disaster to prevent the deaths of eleven people. Wikipedia defines mass murder as any set of murders involving more than four victims. So, mass murder.

It isn't negligent homicide when you know enough about what is going to happen to sell your position to limit the financial impact on you. It is deliberate homicide. The people on that drilling rig were deliberately and maliciously, with forethought, left in a position of danger and harm. Were they even being paid hazardous duty pay? Presumably not, Hayward is too stingy and mean to do anything of the sort.

Remember that Hayward is as nasty a villain as they come. When Tony Hayward told congressional hearings that BP has an ongoing investigation and will take necessary and appropriate actions, what did he mean?

For example, what is there to investigate about this accident? What remains unknown about BP's abysmal safety record, including 760 egregious and wilful safety violations in the last three years, compared to the next worst offenders in the industry each with 8 and Exxon-Mobil with one?

We know that BP killed 15 workers and injured 170 others in 2005 at their Texas City refinery. We know that these deaths occurred because BP, a corporate creature of the state, and an enormous enterprise in Britain, failed to undertake necessary safety precautions. A 2002 opportunity to avert the disaster was not taken due to a $150 million cost. Between 1994 and 2004 at least eight similar incidents occurred which should have stimulated action by BP, and BP took no action. We know that BP itself claims to have paid out $1.6 billion in damages to victims of the 2005 incident, which is more than an order of magnitude greater than the cost of prevention in 2002.

Worse, we know that on 30 October 2009 the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) imposed an $87 million fine on the company for failing to correct safety hazards revealed in the 2005 explosion. We also know that at the time of the disaster in 2005, BP executives promised to take corrective action, lamented the loss of life, cried crocodile tears about how sorry they were.

We also know that BP is deeply connected to the UK-USA treaty organisation, the CIA, the military-financial-industrial-espionage complex, and Iran. The company got its start as the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. It had the CIA overthrow the democratically elected government of Iran and install the Shah of Iran so it could exploit the oil reserves of Iran. So when the CIA mouth pieces in the Obama administration talk about bringing democracy to the region, you really ought to guffaw.

We know that BP is spending an enormous amount of money on publicity and advertising, buying key words on Google, and trying to pretend they care about the people who were killed, those who were injured, and the ecological devastation they have caused. We also know that BP spends an enormous amount of money (compared to the average American's annual income) on bribing American politicians through campaign contributions and lobbying expenses.

In some ways, last week's "crack down" on mortgage industry fraud with 485 arrests is similar to what we can expect with the big oil spill and similar events. We know that it is not through the actions of a few hundred mortgage fraudsters that the banking system collapsed in 2008. We know that the trillions of dollars paid to bail out big banking gangsters in 2008, 2009, and this year were not necessitated by a few penny-ante fraudsters working ad hoc in the mortgage industry. But the department of injustice is going to pretend that they have been "working hard to clean up the industry." When in fact they continue to be bought off by the big banks, and they target some small time crooks to give pretence to their claim to be "doing something."

So when Hayward asserts that BP is going to take action, he does not mean that they are going to do anything about the leak, about the huge oil plumes their project has set off, nor about the environmental damage, except the minimum amount they are required to do, and the least they can get away with. What he means is that they are going to use their connections in the military, in the CIA, in the diplomatic community, and in other parts of the USA government, as well as in various other governments around the world, notably Britain, to bring pressure to minimise the impact on BP. You know, so poor sad Hayward can get his useless worthless despicable ungrateful fucking life back.

Oh, and the Hayward family estate in Kent? Either it should be seized to pay compensation to the victims of Hayward's apparently deliberate homicide, or it should be demolished so that no brick stands atop another, and Corexit sown in the ground so that nothing ever grows there.

BP is investigating how to minimise the problems for BP management. Their investigation has only self-exculpation as a desired result. They are presumably investigating who they can pay off, who they can bribe, possibly who they can have killed, to make this problem go away.

BP is going to continue doing what BP does: lie, cheat, steal, refuse to comply with industry standards, fail to implement safety precautions long after the disasters they have caused, kill dozens of people through negligence, injure hundreds of people through negligence, corrupt politicians, buy off bureau-rats, and generally act like mawkish British fucks. "We're BP. We own major world governments. Fuck you. We don't give a shit if you die. We don't have to do the reasonable things that others in our industry do to safeguard workers, protect the environment, nor safeguard the wealth of our shareholders. We're evil nasty redcoat British shits, and we hate you for being weak and powerless. We've got billions of dollars to spend on fucking you over, destroying your world, and getting away with it because we have nasty, despicable, ungrateful, evil shitheads in your government who let us get away with murder."

And that, in a nutshell, is what you can expect from Obama, from his successors, and from the USA, British, and related governmental entities. Tyranny, injustice, negligent homicide, mass murder. Because these are the things the CIA brings to the world. A legacy of ashes.
