Interesting Times, Important Persons

It is a 1936 classic, probably a lie told by a British diplomat (bureau-rat) that there is an ancient Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times and come to the attention of important persons." No such curse has been found in Chinese literature of antiquity.

We certainly live in the interesting times. One crisis after another. Expect rioting this Summer and Autumn, by the way. The USA senate, which was able to justify endless hundreds of billions for the banking gangsters has been unable to come up with the votes for extending unemployment benefits. Hundreds of thousands are now out of money, with nothing more to come. By September it'll be in the millions.

Into this context comes Charles Veitch for the purpose of getting some clarity on the G20 summit. He has now come to the attention of important persons. Or, at least, self-important ones. You can get some of the story here.

It seems that he's been arrested for the non-violent non-crime of refusing to identify himself when the pigs in Toronto demanded "papers please." Instead of responding like a slave by showing his permission slip to be off the plantation, Charles stood up like a man and said, "no." Or, you know, words to that effect. See video on link above.

Now, what's especially interesting to me is that the Division 51 of the Toronto Police Department told three different people on three separate phone calls on Friday 25 June 2010 that they were turning Charlie over to the Gestapo, also known as Geheimstadt Polizei, also Heimatlandsicherheitsdienst or "Department of Homeland Security." DHS, they said were to have taken Charles into custody and would be removing him from Canada to take him to Buffalo, New York.

That's peculiar because Charles is a UK national, aka subject of the queen. He was in Canada, a commonwealth country. No extradition hearing has been held. I gather that the UK embassy was not notified. I gather this from our contacts who called the embassy, and the consulate, and were told not only was Charlie not in DHS custody, but was to appear in court the same morning (25 June).

So, for some reason, Toronto Police Department division 51 (named, apparently after the building number on the street where they are headquartered) decided to tell the same lie to three separate callers. Maybe they figured we'd stop calling if they started lying? Heh.

Plenty of G20 shenanigans coming, it looks like things are just getting started.
