Re: "The Cougar and The Elephants" by L. Neil Smith

Wouldn't it be great if we could get someone like Stossel to sponsor a debate:

Coulter vs the Libertarians

with his audience as the jury (maybe nation wide text voting).

Topic: The war on drugs is unconstitutional pro and con.

(The constitution says "insure domestic tranquility" the war causes murder and corruption your reply please....)

PS: I'll bet you'll discover that she does not have the "balls" for it...

In "Hang 'Em High" L. Neil Smith wrote:

Second, a great many individuals criticize my proposed penalty clause because it doesn't call for the public executions of criminals, convicted under due process of law of violating the highest law of the land.

They may have a point.

Let me think about it.

Dear Neil,

Indeed, do think about it. Incarceration of these criminals would have to be paid for somehow. I don't expect to donate anything to keep them in beans and jeans. Who's going to pay for it?

Personally, I'd rather see them stripped of any power over others and turned loose to attempt earning their living in a hostile environment like a truly free market. Perhaps branded with a scarlet P (for politician) on their foreheads or something so everyone knows their crimes.

But, then again, I'm against torture—even for evil people. Maybe hanging would be a kindness.

Love,

Review of the bidding

Thousands of guns smuggled into Mexico under ATF's aegis, enough where it looks like the BATFE's leadership and the Attorney General were carrying out a filibuster against Mexico.

The President is making an illegal war without even the slightest pretense of obeying the law.

We're about to go over our government's credit limit in about seven weeks.

We are slipping into phase two of a double dip recession and the cause, or at least a big chunk of it, is the Keynesian solution to phase one.

And all these are our politicians' fault. And maybe ours for trusting these clowns. know many of you reading this didn't, but a bunch did.

Did I miss anything?

Re: Fwd: Senator Sanders breaks down the Koch Echo Chamber

Dear sir,

On behalf of somebody named Robert Greenwald, and something called the "Brave New Foundation", your headline reads:

Senator Sanders breaks down the Koch Echo Chamber

Now let me see ...

I don't know about this Greenwald gump, but Bernie Sanders is a famous advocate and apologist for a political philosophy rooted in murder and theft, and which is directly responsible for the violent deaths—entirely separate from war—of more than 100,000,000 individuals in the 20th century alone.

His pohtical ancestors and allies are V.I. Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, the Ortega brothers, Hugo Chavez, and Barack Obama.

I have had my own reservations about Charlie and Dave Koch for years, but it's clear that they believe every individual is the owner and sole proprietor of his or her own life and all of the products of that life—and that nobody has a right to initiate force against another human being for any reason.

What poor Comrade Sanders seems to be objecting to here is that the Koch boys have built an apparatus similar to the communications monopoly that propagandized the people of this country for decades on behalf of the two-headed Boot On Your Neck party.

Guess I'll have to spread the word, using the network that we libertarians were forced to create because the one that existed before then was only used to deceive and enslave us.

From the mouths of infants

Back about the time UPN took it over I became a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. Silly of me, I know. I'd watched some episodes before the WB killed her off, but it wasn't quite my thing. Anyhow somehow somewhere I got hooked, specifically on the reruns.

There is a story arc in Buffy in which her boyfriend the vampire Angel (who later got his own show) had his soul taken away and was possessed by the demon Angelus. OK, so you are either a fan and get it or you aren't and don't. Angelus begins to engage in evil, ending with beginning a ceremony that will "bring on the Apocalypse" (Whedon's character averted at least one apocalypse a season, sometimes two or three.). Angel can be stopped by restoring his soul or by killing him.

The story ends with Angel getting his soul back just in time for Buffy to have to kill him anyhow. Made for good dramatic ending.

In the fight for liberty we can win a variety of ways. Some may not be enough on their own, but they can weaken and distract our enemies enough to give us the edge. We want Republican and democrats to start spouting the libertarian line (the real thing, not the platform of the republican lite party, though even that is an improvement), Federal, state and local cops blowing the whistle on abuse (e.g., the BATFE whistleblowers in Operation Gunwalker), TV programs where agents of unconstitutional agencies are shown as the bad guys (I'm thinking one particular episode of Dollhouse where the ATF is shown as the Bad Guys, as well as how ATF agents are portrayed in The Sons of Anarchy), every law and court decision rejecting the tyrants party line are victories.

I am convinced that within my lifetime the struggle between those who love freedom and those who wish to create a tyrannical nanny state will go to the mats, turn violent. we must spend the time between now and then weakening their resolve to fight and the number of people who will fight for them.
