Let Them Eat Cake
by L.Neil Smith
The Bill of Rights has just been chucked into the disposal by a two-for-a-nickel administrative law judge in Denver, in a ruling that will prolong and intensify conflict, and give a pat on the head to involuntary servitude, rather than bring trouble to a just and lawful conclusion.

Free Lunch?
by A.X. Perez
"There ain't no such thing as free lunch." This quote is economics summarized in eight words. According to Wikipedia this aphorism was first verbalized in so many words in an article published in the El Paso Herald Post (now defunct) on 27 June, 1938. It was popularized most notably by Milton Friedman and Robert A, Heinlein, of course.

Misconceptions
by Sean Gangol
Whenever I talk to people about libertarianism, they usually dismiss it right off because of all the misconceptions that are floating about. They seem to have no understanding of what libertarianism is actually. This is largely thanks to all the years of government schooling, as well as the falsehoods perpetrated by the lamestream media. Usually their objections are based on falsehoods that are repeated often in government school textbooks and by talking heads who don't know Jack about libertarianism.

The Mandarin In The Moon
by L. Neil Smith
there's an old saying (among Philosophy majors) that the true test of objective reality is to step off the curb in front of an oncoming bus. I can never decide what irritates me more, when people don't pay attention to me (I am a writer, after all, and a moderately vain one), or when they won't pay attention to the undeniable facts of objective reality.

Neale's Weekly Gun Rant Volume 36
by Neale Osborn
California robs the poor again.... A gun buyback in Kahleeforneeyah netted 898 guns and one Hand Grenade. So, how did they rob the poor? By screwing them over on the prices paid, then they will probably destroy valuable property rather than sell it at auction, or even better, consign them to gun shops. They only paid $100 per handgun (as we all know, the $100 handgun is rare) and $150 per long gun (Even rarer). I sure hope Hand Grenade Boy got more than $100. I bet those things aren't cheap! I just wish I'd been there with a few thousand dollars to make parking lot purchases....

One thing to read:

The future of nuclear power: Let a thousand flowers bloom
by Ashutosh (Ash) Jogalekar
In the summer of 1956, a handful of men gathered in a former little red schoolhouse in San Diego. These men were among the most imaginative scientists and engineers of their generation. There was their leader, Frederic de Hoffmann who had worked on the Manhattan Project and was now the president of the company General Atomics. There was Freeman Dyson, a mathematical physicist at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton who had previously reconciled disparate theories of quantum electrodynamics – the strange theory of light and matter. And there was Edward Teller, another Manhattan Project veteran; a dark, volatile and brilliant physicist who would become so convinced of the power of nuclear weapons to save the world that he would inspire the caricature of the mad scientist in Stanley Kubrick’s classic film “Dr. Strangelove”.
