A New Political "Party"

I've been thinking hard, for a long time, that there ought to be a better way of doing politics, which, for me, consists of nothing more than reducing—ultimately to zero—the impact of government on my life.

In the 43 years since the inception of the Libertarian Party, the system has armored itself against that particular approach—standing out in the freezing rain, or the broiling heat, gathering petition signatures gets old extremely fast. Independent candidates don't stand a chance except under peculiar circumstances, and the Tea Parties don't seem able to elect candidates who will keep their campaign promises.

I have been consciously engaged in that struggle for 52 years, since 1962, when I first read Atlas Shrugged. In that time, I have backed many candidates, attended countless conventions, run for office twice, acquired a remarkable education in politics, economics, and history, written more than thirty books, and thousands of essays. However, in all those years, things have only gotten worse. By any objective measure, my entire life has been wasted and I am a miserable failure.

I don't know what keeps me going. Possibly sheer stupidity. But I have lately realized that we—meaning those of us who want to be free—are being presented with a unique, unprecedented opportunity that many others, ostensibly on our side, regard as a tremendous disaster.

The present occupant of the White House has illegally usurped the power to grant "executive amnesty" to tens of millions of foreigners either in the United States illegally, or about to come. Conservatives are outraged, horrified for many reasons we have heard over and over again.

"Progressives"—and this is the principal reason this event has occurred—are absolutely delighted because they mistakenly believe that the newcomers will all be automatically voting with them, securing an eternal socialist regime and lots of money and power for themselves.

Republicans of the non-conservative kind support the President's move because it means an almost infinite supply of cheap, abuseable domestic and industrial labor. No matter what they say, no matter what the law, including the Constitution, mandates, and especially no matter what the voters want, they're not about to interfere with this process, and regard our demand for Obama's impeachment as ridiculous, risky, and a lot of hard work. And neo-cons, which is what these sad excuses for men are, RINOs, are the laziest welfare recipients on the planet.

Welfare recipients? They're paid, are they not, and extremely handsomely, for not doing what we hired them to do, but for whining that it can't be done? John Boehner is the nation's richest welfare queen.

Now. Can anything be done about this? Maybe.

I want to start a new political organization which, for lack of a better expression, will be called a party. Except that it will run no candidates, hold no conventions, or do anything else we normally associate with political parties. For reasons that seem good and sufficient to me, I'm going to call it the "Privacy Party" and its only platform will be the Bill of Rights (which is actually all about the individual right to absolute privacy) and the Zero Aggression Principle.

I will be looking for the money to accomplish the following:

Hire half a dozen full time workers to research, write, and distribute principally Spanish-language materials intended to acquaint Spanish-speaking newcomers with the basic founding documents of this country.

And its Founders' philosophy.

Ultimately acquire a Spanish language radio station with full-time Internet streaming if its contents. Also, establish a website and multiple Facebook pages to support the other activities of the organization.

The entire operation will turn on a "loose-leaf" version of my book Down With Power. It will be "loose-leaf" only in the sense that there are and will be issues that the book didn't deal with but will need to be dealt with in the future, not alterable in its fundamental underlying principles. We will not be relying wholly on high-tech methods of mass communication. If it works to staple Xeroxed broadsides on telephone poles, carrying our message, then we will do that.

One of our first employees will be a professional publicist.

Our message? You are here (we'll tell the immigrant) to improve your life. These ideas (the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and more recent documents, including my own writings) are why improving your life is possible here. Socialism destroyed your old country; don't let it destroy your new country.

If any country, no matter how poor or how small, adopted laissez- faire economics and politics, and libertarian social values, it would become, within a decade, the wealthiest, most pleasant place to live a in the history of the humankind. Re-establish those conditions in the United States, and we would leap ahead of the remainder of the planet by ten thousand years. I have always wanted to state that fact plainly.

Establish them worldwide, and nobody will want to migrate.

(Of course they would then be interfered with, sabotaged, and destroyed by the U.S. State Department, the "intelligence" community, and by every would-be, two-bit, tinpot conqueror from ISIS to Vlad Putin. These are all part of a problem—power—that we must solve together.)

That's where the Privacy Party comes in. By surveying the entire range of Democratic, Republican, Conservative, Libertarian. Tea Party, Green, and other candidates, and selecting an ideal "virtual slate", we can help reshape American politics. By producing papers, books, comic books—and model legislation—recorded sounds and colorful videos everyone can enjoy, and making sure every politician in the country sees them, we can influence events with minimal cost and effort.

I believe that these efforts, although initially in Spanish, will also greatly persuade those who don't speak Spanish, making us a kind of national clearing house for libertarian information. And the Hispanic newcomers—whose arrival is now inevitable—will no longer be a threat, but a bright refreshment of American political values.

We'll begin by turning L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise into a hunting magazine: a magazine dedicated to hunting RINOS.

The idea is not really all that new. It's how the 19th century Fabian Society made England socialist. Now we will use it against socialism to restore peace, freedom, progress, and prosperity to America.

And everybody in it.
