The First Amendment Means What It Says
by L. Neil Smith
First of all, an apology of sorts: I was engaged this week in a
Facebook “discussion” about the mandates of the First
Amendment, and I promised one of the individuals I was arguing with
that I would explain, the next day, why he is wrong and I am right
about the meaning and intent of that article of the Bill of Rights.
Unfortunately, the next day, I got caught up in the finishing touches
on my latest novel, Only The Young Die Good and completely
forgot about the dispute. This essay is that explanation.

Welcome to New Boss, Same as Old Boss…
by MamaLiberty
The media, internet and neighborhood conversations are filled with
every sort of commentary, boasting, celebrations, protests, analysis,
predictions and general hand wringing. I’ve lived through a
great many national elections, starting with Eisenhower, and pretty
much all the same things have gone on each time, by someone. That this
year’s political circus has been more vicious, filled with more
stupidity, lies and hubris, I won’t deny. But it is a difference
in intensity, not of kind.

Latest News from Greater Appalachia: Post Thanksgiving Malaise
by Jeff Fullerton
I was stuffed to the hilt with turkey and pumpkin pie and thought
for a while I was going to throw up this past thanksgiving eve. Got
the wonderful tidbit from the evening news when I arrived at
Bruce’s that evening after celebrating with family. Apparently
it’s not over. It’s going to be Florida over and over
again. They’re recounting votes in Wisconsin, Michigan and
Pennsylvania!

PUBLISHER’S NOTE
Fidel Castro, the evil Cuban dictator, murderer, torturer, kleptocrat, and rapist is dead. Once again, I sort of wish I were religious (sort of, I say) so that I could fully enjoy the image in my mind of this criminal maggot, frying in the depths of Hell.
I actually remember when the creature came to power. I was just about to enter Fifth Grade, headed with my Air Force family to Pepperrell Air Force Base in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I saw a newspaper headline on a stand in Times Square as we visited New York City: "Castro Raped My Daughter". It was so at-odds with everything else being said about Castro that I never forgot it. A couple of years later, when he stripped off his disguise as another Simon Bolivar or Jose de San Martin, and crowed to a dishonestly astonished world that he was a communist, I thought about it again.
It’s not my purpose here to write any kind of biography of the vain, self-indulgent individual who wore silk fatigues (I saw them on TV) and speechified for five or six hours at a time. History may be entering a good moment to judge him accurately. I simply want any of my readers twenty years or more younger than I am to know that what you may read or hear, over the next several days—high praise from the collectivist likes of the New York Times and traditional "news" networks—is false. If Fidel Castro had somehow time-warped back to Germany in 1945, and been tried for his cruel predations at Nuremberg, he would have wound up at the end of a length of hemp, like so many of the Nazi war criminals did.
Cuba isn’t out of the woods just yet. There’s still Raul Castro, Fidel’s toadious little brother, who’s been running the country since 2006. Plus three generations of thoroughly-indoctrinated little commie- bots. We do best by making our own country as free as it can possibly be, now that it’s out from under the socialist thumb, an example to the world, a shining beacon of peace, freedom, progress and prosperity.

And back to THE EDITOR and HIS NOTES AND STUFF:
Hoo boy. I don’t know if it’s the ’net in general, or just our local country bunch of tubes, or just the router here in the house, but we sure are having trouble getting connected to things sometimes. Started in the last week or so. I don’t want to have to call the phone company, ’cause that’s often just a way to spend time doing nothing (and we have a pretty good phone company!).
And that good ol’ FAKE NEWS thing is rolling along. When I first heard of it I thought "New York Times and Washington Post?" as the very definition and example of FAKE NEWS, but turns out them two are calling anyone expressing opinions they dislike FAKE NEWS.
Now, there really are a few dipshits out there who completely make up fake news reports and send them out and about just for the LULZ. These people need a spanking or time in the stocks ’cause We The People really can’t tolerate having liars in our midst—a free people need to know the truth about things, and liars get in the way of that. Which brings us back to the New York Times and the Washington Post of course. It ain’t easy being free.
So what I’m trying to say here is I was going to reprint a story from Vin Suprynowicz about the lying liars in the Mainstream Media and now I can’t connect to his blog to get a copy of it. So here is a little excerpt from it I happen to have handy:
They expected to be ‘discussing access’
I’ve got to admit, I love it.
The arrogant, we’re-so-elite, high-heeled New York reporters whimpered that it was “unprecedented” when Donald Trump took his family out for a steak dinner at a New York restaurant last week without inviting them along?
They haven’t BEGUN to see “unprecedented.”
The New York electronic Mainstream Media elite accepted an invitation to Trump Tower today, expecting the president-elect to extend an olive branch, to ask them to pretty-please treat him more nicely. And to “discuss the access they would get to the Trump administration,” of course.
(Among the attendees were NBC’s Deborah Turness, Chuck Todd, and debate rigger Lester Holt; ABC’s (president) James Goldston, George Stephanopoulos, David Muir and Martha Raddatz; CBS’s Norah O’Donnell, John Dickerson, Charlie Rose, and Christopher Isham; Fox News’s Bill Shine, Jack Abernethy, Jay Wallace, and Suzanne Scott; CNN’s Jeff Zucker and Erin Burnett and MSNBC’s Phil Griffin.
But Mr. Trump was not there to discuss their “access.”
No. Instead, he called these liars a bunch of liars.
See: [New York Post]
“It was like a fucking firing squad,” one source said of the encounter.
“Trump started with [CNN chief] Jeff Zucker and said ‘I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed,’” said the Post’s “source,” who was of course violating the advance agreement that no one would report what happened at the meeting. Which means the source, who was obviously one of the TV-news big shots in the room, um … lied when he or she made that agreement. Right? Surprise.
“The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down,” the Post’s source added.
A second source confirmed the fireworks… in violation of the agreement, of course.

Finally, a jaw-dropping article from Judicial Watch:
Secret Service Loses Guns, Badges, Laptops, “Other Equipment”
The U.S. Secret Service has lost thousands of agency computers, radios, cell phones, weapons, credentials and vehicles since Islamic terrorists executed the worst attack in U.S. history, records obtained by Judicial Watch show. The equipment was reported lost or stolen by the Secret Service, which claims to be one of the most elite law enforcement organizations in the world with responsibilities that include protecting, not only the president, but also national and visiting foreign leaders as well as conducting criminal investigations.
