Bipartisan Lies

Many years ago a friend of mine was surprised when a conservative Senator he trusted voted in favor of a gun control law. I was not surprised by this, the Senator in question was a tyrannophilic jerk and I saw it coming. I do not mention names because this clown changed stripes repeatedly and I'm not here to disillusion you about someone whom you admire and I think enjoyed a long life because he was such scum the devil was too snobby to let him into hell. The point is just because someone is a conservative that does not automatically mean he is that fond of the 2nd Amendment or any other guarantees contained in the Bill of Rights.

Faux Conservatives and phony Liberals are real good at coming together to trash our rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and the main body of the Constitution, especially the rights contained in the First, Second, and Fourth Amendments. Most Americans, most of the time, reject this. Then an emergency comes up and everyone is panicked. Next thing you know The Alien and Sedition Act, the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968, and the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act are being passed by bipartisan vote.

Many of Donald Trumps' supporters feel his election is permission to demonstrate that they are bigoted assholes. Antifa and others on the left are definitely willing to assault people and seek violent confrontation and there are people who are willing and able to push back. There is a saying "Keep your words soft and sweet, you might have to eat them." Much of the rhetoric coming from the mouths of our political leaders is not informed by this saying. Meanwhile, the drive for politically correct speech makes people more easily offended even as everyone feels an urge to be offensive.

Did I mention people receiving packages containing ricin and improperly made pipe bombs? A bigot shoots up a synagogue and murders eight. It's so easy for left and right to come together to suspend First, Second , and Fourth Amendment. It's an emergency, freedom is a luxury , liberty must be sacrificed for the sake of security. In a generation or two these will all be sunsetted, declared unconstitutional, or join the ranks of unenforced laws.

Now is the time to speak out in defense of freedom. Now is the time to prepare to fight not just in self defense, but to protect liberty. Because eventually the "emergency" will end, but our freedoms will be weakened. Lather, rinse , repeat. One day our liberty will be forgotten.

I have always believed that since our liberties are essential for our survival, they must be expanded during emergencies, "for the duration …" meaning, of course, forever. Take the luxury of gun control, for instance. America can't afford it when some lunatic asshole is running around shooting people because of their religion. It must be sacrificed for the good of the country, no matter how much it hurts.
