Mastering The Masters (Of The Universe)
by L. Neil Smith
Something that I wrote totally disappeared from Facebook
yesterday. One minute it was there, and the next minute it had vanished. I
had been officially disapproved of, without notice or explanation. Again.

Thoughts from the Road
by Sarah A. Hoyt
I’m on the road on the way to Liberty con, and things I’ve
heard over the last few days, a lot of it in private discussions with
friends, wove themselves with the news caught earlier today (we’ve been on
the road since three thirty am, and not a second to spare as we got off the
highway at the wrong exit and then found that it being high road work season
— Denver has two seasons, snow and road work — we couldn’t get back on and
had to spend sometime lost at the distant edge of Denver).

Starve the System, Feed Yourself:
The Joys of Buying Second-Hand
by Sean Gabb
Though not at all rich in terms of income, I think my net
wealth is somewhat above the average for men of my age. I have achieved this
by spending less than I earn and by avoiding debt. Of course, I wish I could
earn more than I do. A newer car than the one I have driven for ten years
would be nice. On the other hand, I have not had a conventional job since I
resigned in 1990, and I have spent the past generation mostly doing things
that I enjoyed or that contributed to less immediate enjoyment. In this
essay, I plan to make one explicitly political point. For the rest, I will
explain one of the strategies by which my women and I live well and within our means.

Neoconservatives and Leftists: Cut from the Same Cloth
by Sean Gangol
I have tried on several occasions to describe the
hypocrisy of the left, but each time I have found it nearly impossible to
sum it up in just one article. Though I was able to point out the left’s
hypocrisy when it came to war and peace, with my article “Partisan
Hypocrisy.” I have also noticed that while the left acts as if they are the
polar opposites of the neoconservatives on the right, they seem to have much
in common. I feel that my observation has been reinforced, ever since Donald
Trump announced our withdrawal from Syria.

People Against War
by Jim Davidson
This week, I read a series of essays by Paul
Rosenberg, who has been a prolific author. Paul is widely known in the world
of electrical contracting and fibre optic cable installation as the author
of the go-to books on these topics. In the crypto-anarchy community he is
best known for his novel A Lodging of Wayfaring Men. In the
theological community where he is known to some, it is for his novel The
Breaking Dawn. Buying these works using the Amazon links provided helps
support this publication and pays some funds to our editor, Ken Holder, who
works hard for you every week.

A Not-So-Modest Proposal
by L. Neil Smith
Come, let us reason together. I can’t actually claim
credit for this idea—more’s the pity. I vaguely overheard some politician on
television (I’d like very much to know who he was) suggest a simple version
of it, and I wasn’t really paying attention. Later on, I realized what a
brilliant, revolutionary notion it is. I fleshed it out a bit with my wife
Cathy (who ingeniously believes that bureaucrats should be
term-limited), and here it is, “submitted for your approval,” as Rod Serling used to say.
