We received a pointer to this:
“The School Shootings That Weren’t” by Anya Kamenetz, Alexis Arnold, and Emily Cardinali, showing the results into a “Fact Check” on the Federal Gummunts report that there were 235 school shootings in the 2015-2016 school year. Actually there were 11:

“When we’re talking about such an important and rare event, [this] amount of data error could be very meaningful,” says Deborah Temkin, a researcher and program director at Child Trends.

Meaningful? Our Giverment (The Masters, you know, THEM), lie to We The People? Uh-huh!

Why hierarchies? Have you always wondered by just about everything you encounter is organized hierarchically? One (or two!) might assume that perhaps experience has shown that hierarchical systems work best. The actual reason seems to be more like the old “This Is The Way We’ve Always Done It” excuse. In known history, the two longest-lasting semi-successful organizations were the Roman Church and the Military. Those burdens we have had with us seemingly forever. And those burdens are about as hierarchical as can be. So when the fist large commercial systems/organizations began to be built, they were modeled on the only two systems anybody knew about, Church and/or Army. Alas for us all, it turns out there are much better and more efficient and less wasteful systems. And more importantly there are types of organization that are more stable, more flexable, more free!. And yet, look at almost any large business and what do you see? Hierarchy. No wonder the world seems to be going to hell in a hand-basket even as we watch!

And of course, the worst thing about any hierarchy is The Iron Law of Bureaucracy:

In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals the bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and sometimes are eliminated entirely.
— Jerry Pournelle

The Iron Law itself is the best reason to organize upon some other method than hierarchy. Or even Disoraginize!

This sums it all up:

Walmart Discontinues Auto Part Sales To Prevent Car Accidents
BENTONVILLE, AR—In a bold move intended to curb the thousands of deaths from vehicles each and every day, Walmart has decided to stop selling auto parts, sources confirmed Tuesday.

According to shocking reports, people have purchased car parts at Walmart and then those cars have been involved in accidents, proving a direct correlation between selling auto parts and causing deaths.
The Babylon Bee

Have you ever wondered why there are so many fookin’ stupid people in the world? Me too.

And this just arrived in the in-box:

No doubt there will be more.

Gentlemen and Ladies, I plan to put a memorial up at Mondo Cult. I am accepting all memories from all kinds of people. Please feel free to send me what you might like to include - if you wish the be included - and how you wish to be mentioned. As an example - Joe Blow, Magnificent SF Author and HooHa Award Winner - or Joe Blow, Writer.... you get the idea.

Any photos you can include to go with your section, would also be appreciated. Please caption them for me if you send any.

I’m having a hard time getting my act together to do this so I can’t tell you when it will go up. I’m thinking I would like to put it up for Halloween. I think Brad would like that. But I guarantee nothing.

If there is someone else you think should be asked, please feel free to forward this email to that person. Just let me know to whom it has been forwarded so I don’t relegate unknown email addresses to my junk file.

Thanks.

Dangit.

Let us end on some good news:

First hint that body’s ‘biological age’ can be reversed
In a small trial, drugs seemed to rejuvenate the body’s ‘epigenetic clock’, which tracks a person’s biological age.
by Alison Abbott

A small clinical study in California has suggested for the first time that it might be possible to reverse the body’s epigenetic clock, which measures a person’s biological age.

For one year, nine healthy volunteers took a cocktail of three common drugs — growth hormone and two diabetes medications — and on average shed 2.5 years of their biological ages, measured by analysing marks on a person’s genomes. The participants’ immune systems also showed signs of rejuvenation.
The results were a surprise even to the trial organizers — but researchers caution that the findings are preliminary because the trial was small and did not include a control arm.
