The Left’s Major Folly

I frequently look back on the days when I wasn’t sure where I stood on the political spectrum. I wasn’t sure whether I could call myself a conservative, since I was prochoice, pro-gay rights and pro-Marijuana legalization. Of course, at the time I didn’t know that there wasn’t an exact set of requirements that one had to abide by to be a conservative. The one thing that I did know was that I wasn’t a leftist. I know that many discovered libertarianism through the works of Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard and even Robert Heinlein. My inspiration came mainly from L. Neil Smith. You could say that the late J. Neil Schulman, the late Aaron Zelman and even Vin Suprynowicz, also had a hand in guiding me down that path. Though it was L. Neil Smith who first gave me inspiration with Mitzvah and Hope both of which he co-wrote with Aaron Zelman. I would later find the same inspiration with Smith’s other novels, The Probability Broach and The American Zone. It was also through him that I discovered The Libertarian Enterprise, the place where my work would be published for the next thirteen years.

Faith Seeking Freedom is easy reading, in that the authors don't try to cram you chock-full of data and information and jargon, such that you would feel overwhelmed by it all.

Operation Swamp Fox

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I feel like 2020 has scoured me from the inside out. I swear this year is at least a thousand years as experienced. The person who started this year was tired, a little down. My rights being caught in the maw of a very bad contract and the company not deigning to respond to my requests for reversal were part of it. The rest was the toll of 10+ years of severe illness. You can fix it, and I’d been fixing it for the last three or four, but the scars remain. In my mid to late fifties I’m not as flexible and do not heal as fast. And I was tired.

Adventures In Herpetology: Happiness & Excellence In the Face of Doom

Oh boy. Where do I begin? On a Saturday evening at the end of another busy day and week between Dream Land and Covid Land. And very little time to tell my story which sort of overlaps a bit with the Norseman’s Diaries which is starting to get interesting again and may get even more so in the coming days and months as winter sets in and the forces of Nature and human folly could brew up the perfect storm to destroy everything we hold dear. When I have more time I plan on writing a final entry to the Diaries for the year. For this evening I focus on the latest hobby related accomplishments.
