Attribute to L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise

I was once a wholehearted and highly energetic member of the Libertarian Party, from the first full year that it existed until it started nominating criminals and assholes and mutants for President. I ran for public office twice, myself, was the Political Action Director for the Colorado Libertarian Party, and served on a number of platform committees, both state and national.

I was inordinately proud of the national platform that I helped to create in 1977 and 1979 with the disparate likes of Murray Rothbard, L.Reichard White, and Michael Grossberg—my soi dissant conservative editor at Random House praised it, saying it read like it had been written by one author—until a monkey-troupe of pathetic morons decided it was a bad idea, unpragmatic if you will, to let the voting public know that we were in favor of—gasp!—individual liberty. They vandalized the platform and destroyed it, substituting, in their abysmal ignorance of the historical role of third parties, what they judged to be suitably banal, inoffensive and politically correct generalities. Just look where all their pragmatism and trendiness have got the Libertarian Party now, still tiny and insignificant after all these years.

My immediate response was to write a platform book, Down With Power, discussing in some depth all those points I thought were important. Nobody thanked me for it, but then I never expected them to. In fact, when I wrote The Probability Broach some time earlier, which has become the definitive novel of the libertarian movement, and is still in print after more than forty years, I was bitterly criticized by a handful of idiots because I hadn’t consulted with anybody first or asked for their permission. Being intelligent, a scientist at heart, and capable of learning, I have since changed my mind about a couple of positions. No matter, Down With Power went on to become the worst-selling book I ever wrote. (I would write a second edition if the first had not done so badly.)

In any event, with Beijing Biden and his Bolshevik orcs trying to steal the 2020 election, currently threatening every aspect of traditional American individual liberty that they can think of, and the slime-sucking media slurping it all up disgustingly, I think it’s time to draw some lines in the sand. What follows is a list of essential platform positions that a REAL libertarian party would take. Sadly, the Libertarian Party sold itself to the RINOs long ago, and is now in the process of crookedly selling itself again, to the communist Democrats.

Here, in no particular order, is where I stand…

We now understand that no claim of “emergency”, no matter how dire, may be used to override any provision of the United States Constitution or the Bill of Rights; there shall be severe punishments under US Code Title 18, Sections 241 and 242 for those politicians, bureaucrats, and police officers who try. If each individual affected constitutes a separate charge, that means some wrong-doers get a couple of billion years in jail. Maybe the penalties should be worse than that.

Similarly, elected or appointed officials convicted of lying to the public for any reason, or of withholding information necessary for the informed operation of a democratic republic, shall be considered guilty of a serious offense, akin to treason. As a sign of good faith and full compliance, disclosure must be made of all information the government has collected concerning UFOs.

All forms of censorship must be outlawed by government or in venues and on platforms claiming to offer a free and open forum. Consumer fraud cannot be tolerated.

Chartered corporations, as arms of the government, must be required to uphold and defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

It is long past time for abolition of the CIA, the FBI, and all other extra-Constitutional deep-state agencies.

Recent evidence clearly demonstrates that government schools must be abolished as a threat to American traditions and liberty.

To avoid society’s most flagrant conflict of interest, no lawyer can be allowed to run for or hold legislative office.

No political contributions may be permitted from outside the constituency in question.

The federal prison on Alcatraz Island must be returned to service and reserved for malfeasant public officials, along with a return to public hanging, also reserved for malfeasant public officials.

There must be total separation of medicine and state.

A decent political party must strive for complete eradication of the murderous doctrine of socialism and of murderous socialist practices.

Last, but far from least, Queen Isabella of Spain, horrified at the pitiful sight of sick and dying Indian captives brought to Europe from the New World, founded the first anti-slavery society. It took more than three hundred years for her dream to be realized, and, in some instances, slavery is still practiced. But Isabella was right. Now we must make a similar commitment. After ten thousand years or more, the ancient and evil practice of taxation must be abolished, no matter how much time and effort it requires.

There you have it, ladies and germs. If we had a REAL libertarian party, we could have a real libertarian party platform, Then again, if we had some ham, we could have some ham and eggs, if we had some eggs.

Regardless, Where We Go 1, We Go All.
