Dueling Lies

It‘s not so much about whether you drink the Kool-Aid, it‘s about which Kool-Aid you drink. Every side in the political debate is pushing lies, every side is demanding you accept their lies as true, and each side is defining a bad person as someone who does not drink their brand of Kool-Aid. Everyone knows all the Kool-Aid is poisoned, yet people are knowingly drinking it, not even lying to themselves that it is less toxic than everyone else‘s Kool-Aid. Our political leaders demand we live out delusions they prescribe, act out their psychotic break with reality. A pox on all their houses.

Another Letter from A.X. Perez

MLK Day

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is a Federal Holiday celebrating the life of Martin Luther King and his struggle against denial of Civil Rights to People of Color. This struggle is worth honoring, if one man is denied his liberty the liberty of all is diminished. King paid for his fight for freedom with his life, anecdotal evidence indicates he expected to pay that price. He is a martyr in the fight for freedom.

Political power is held by those who would twist his accomplishments and efforts to hold us in bondage. Often, their opposition are those who seek to bind us in a different manner. I suspect the until the Messiah comes (or returns if you share my Christian belief), the struggle for liberty and against tyranny will go on unabated.

Meanwhile, America is a less racist society than it was in Doctor King‘s lifetime, and is headed towards becoming less racist still. All Americans are gaining freedom, current temporary setbacks notwithstanding. It is up to us to make sure that in five years America is a freer, more decent nation than it is today.

Rereading this I feel that the statement expressed is rather obvious, trite, and vacuous, worthy of any politician in the USA. However, the sentiments and ideas are still worth expressing, lest that due to their simplemindedness their elementary truth be forgotten.

The Crusades: (Video Lectures)

The Crusades are the defining event of the Middle Ages. They brought the very different civilisations of Western Europe, Byzantium and Islam into an extended period of both conflict and peaceful co-existence. Between January and March 2021, Sean Gabb explored this long encounter with his students. Here are two of his lectures. All student contributions have been removed.

02. The First Crusade

Letter from Jeff Fullerton

Better Dead than Warm?

Dovetails with the article I sent on the objections against space colonization and development of solar power satellite infrastructure. “Inappropriate Technology” because it’s creates a future of abundance and prosperity and greater potential for human freedom. And might cancel their compelling case for a future based on stasis and rationing that these wannabe despots and gatekeepers want.

It’s the reason these cockroaches need to be exposed as the vile and destructive parasites that they are.

Begin forwarded message:

But something strange happened. The people who claimed to be concerned about resource scarcity from overpopulation opposed nuclear precisely because it put an end to scarcity

Fear of Fusion: What if It Works? - Los Angeles Times

Jeremy Rifken. Another nut job in love with scarcity:

Rifkin cites a 1985 University of New Hampshire study showing that 88% of the Earth’s oil and gas reserves will be depleted by 2025

Never fear. Biden has already saved us from that one in the nick of time.

What to Do When Green Objectives Conflict? - WSJ

Ecologist and author of “The Population Bomb” Paul Erlich is on record for saying that giving humanity cheap energy is the equivalent to giving an idiot child a machine gun. Gives me a good idea for a little agit prop rallying cry:

Idiot children of the world unite!

A machine guns can be useful tools for destroying the Malthusian parasites who want you to freeze in the dark. Maybe we should round up the likes of Paul Erlich , Jeremy Rifken and Ralph Nader and send them on a vacation to Antarctica with no coal or oil to burn because they need a taste of the kind of life they would inflict on people who live on the edge in cold winter climates.

You have nothing to loose but your chains and the likelihood of freezing to death!
