Your government's good intentions at work. Illegal immigrants have swamped the hospital system in Yuma, resulting in $26 million in uncompensated care for illegals in the last two years. There are no beds available for locals; they go to Phoenix. Hospitals are prohibited by law from releasing a mother and baby unless the mother has a child car seat. So the hospitals hoovered up all the child car seats in the Yuma area, depriving locals of any seats. The kicker: none of the immigrants own a car. None.Tribes cannot lease land for more than 25 years, which makes it hard to build infrastructure. One tribe has been trying to get a permit from BIA for 14 years, another 22 years.
You aren't going to read any of these little gems in your newspaper. I got these from a recording of Rep. Harriet Hageman's town hall in Buffalo, Wyoming. Cowboy State Politics, March 15, 2023, podcast.
This week's motto comes from James Bovard's column on Joe Biden as a bogus benevolent dictator.

"For all the critiques of the American-based [social media] platforms, at the end of the day, they don't report to the CIA, and they don't report to the American government." So says Mark Warner, a US Senator from Virginia. No, they just do its bidding. And the Brazilian government's bidding. And who knows how many other governments' bidding. Apparently Senator Warner hasn't been reading Antônio F. Oliveira's article "The Artificial Intelligence Revolution in Social Media: How State Power and Algorithms Can Threaten Humanity". We continue with Section 5: Behind the scenes of manipulation: techniques used to influence public opinion. It's free, Senator Warner; you're welcome to read it. And we won't tell anyone you did.
If you think government suppression of free thought is new to this country, think again. From David Beito and FEE, a detailed account of the New Dealers' and Fair Dealers' suppression of their opponents. But some things stay the same: As usual, the Democrats opposed free speech, and the Republicans caved.
