The Tree-Bucket Plan
by L. Neil Smith
A working paper made public last week by the
obscure Dean J. Swift Foundation, reveals a plan to put America back
on a saner footing, after more than a year of rioting, violently
preventing conservatives and libertarians from speaking publicly, and
general irrationality on the part of leftists unable to cope with the
reality of Donald Trump’s election to the Presidency of the United States.

The Role of International Affairs in Reducing Racial Inequality in the USA in the Years 1877-1981
by Sean Gabb
The Modern state system came in to existence with
the treaty of Westphalia in 1648. This made an absolute distinction
between the internal and the external affairs of a country. An
independent country was expected to pursue its interests in the world,
as it saw them and as it could, and other countries were expected to
take account of that alone and nothing more.

Buying a Sword
by Sarah Hoyt
I’ve often been accused of being incredibly
optimistic. And yes, it’s an accusation. I find this
very funny (in a dark way) since, as a chronic depressive I fight
depression and despondence ALL the time. But maybe it is because of that that I’ve
grown used to giving myself reality checks. If I trust my own
internal clock, then I assume everything is going to rack and ruin and
become too despondent to move or work, or really do anything.
Sometime in my mid-thirties, I learned to look at facts and test
reality against facts. Just like in my mid-forties I learned to
check incipient paranoia born of having social anxiety and being
forced into a public role by my profession. (It runs like this,
“No, Sarah, not everyone in that room hates you. Most of
them don’t know you yet.”)

Isaiah’s Job
A story by Jim Davidson
We all tuned our radios to AM 850 and heard the
voice of our destinies. There was static for everyone and it got
worse the farther away you were from Pittsburgh. I guess some
people weren’t able to get the signal, but word got out to them
in other ways. As one of the eldest, I’ve been asked to
write down what I heard that night.

Norseman’s Diaries: Picking up the peices
by Jeff FullertonThis winter has been quite a ride.
It has been everything from snowstorms to painful
losses to another financial shock. I would actually have a colorful
story to write about in detail were it not for the malaise I’ve
been in on top of a busy schedule. it would have made an awesome diary
format; had I felt like chronicling it—two nights this week
driving home through blizzard conditions that were punctuated by a
couple days of mild weather and the lunar eclipse that was spoiled by
cloud cover leading up to the Groundhog Day circus of regional fame.
