“Gun control is the idea that it’s better to see a woman dead in an alley, strangled
with her own pantyhose, than to see her with a gun in her hand.”—T.D. Melrose

Strange Days
by Sarah A. Hoyt
I’m not a stranger to political violence.  And I have no interest in it. Sometimes I feel like I must be, for sure that my life is a novel, and a very well foreshadowed one at that. Black September and the Munich massacre which marred the first time I was aware of the Olympic games (which provided something to watch on TV through the first dreary summer when my brother went away with friends and I was left to my own devices for amusement) foreshadowed September Eleven.  And I’m hoping very hard that my youth of turning a corner and finding yourself in the middle of a melee, of bomb threats and attacks on insufficiently supportive establishments, of riots and party headquarters burning is not a foreshadowing for the next few years.  Because I’m old, I’m tired, and I can’t be having with that.

The Fractal Man, A Review
by Sean Gangol
I was excited when I heard that J. Neil Schulman was releasing his first novel since Escape from Heaven, which he had published in 2001. In his new book, The Fractal Man he actually inserts himself and his late friend Samuel Edward Konkin III, into the story. Though they are actually fractals, which are alternative versions of themselves that exist in different universes. I have always found the idea of alternate universes intriguing because I think we have all wondered what our own lives would look like if we had taken a different path, at least once in our lifetimes.

Assailant with shotgun invades newsroom, kills five. Why did no one shoot back?
by Vin Suprynowicz

Peace, Love, Understanding:
My Visit to the 2018Annual Session of the
Ohio Valley Yearly Meeting

by Jim Davidson
There are many voluntaryists in the Society of Friends.   You might enjoy meeting some of them.  I do. On 10 June 2018 my request for membership in the Dayton Friends Meeting was accepted.  The following Wednesday, I attended the annual session of the Ohio Valley Yearly Meeting.  There was a great deal of peace, love, and understanding.  As Eddy Money once sang, what's so funny about that?

Wendy McElroy Claims Her Writing As Her Property
by J. Neil Schulman, et al
Editor’s Note: Ms McElroy, for whom I have the greatest respect, is one of those “No Sech Thing as Intellectual Property” people. But we find those theoretical things do not apply when it is her Intellectual Property, about which there is not sech a thing, except in her case. Or something. Er….
