“Gun control is the idea that it’s better to see a woman dead in an alley, strangled
with her own pantyhose, than to see her with a gun in her hand.”—T.D. Melrose

A Note from our Publisher

It pleases me immensely to announce that I have finally completed two novels that have taken me a long time to write, and submitted them to my extremely patient publisher.

Only the Young Die Good is a sequel to my romantic vampire story Sweeter Than Wine, about a nice young man who was "brought over" in 1944 in a French wine cellar, by the beautiful redheaded Romanian Resistance fighter pilot who became the love of his life, and their cat, Fiddlestring.

Ares, a part of the Ngu Family Saga, which also includes Pallas and Ceres, is a story I started sixteen years ago, about a violent struggle for control of the planet Mars between badly-exploited colonists, their allies from the asteroid Pallas, and the corrupt governments of East America and the United Nations.

Those in media of all kinds interested in interviewing me about these or any other of my 37 award-winning books, can reach me at [email protected]. In the past, I predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union, and described the Internet and computer-aided science a decade before it happened. I can nearly always light your phone lines up, or provide you with interesting material to publish.

Calizuela Here We Come!
by L. Neil Smith
I once thought that the craziest year America had ever endured was 1968: the War in Vietnam, the Presidential election, riots in Chicago, inner cities in flames all over the US and Europe, seizure of the USS Pueblo by North Korea, the Tet offensive, the My Lai Massacre, the 1968 Gun Control Act, the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy, the first teachers’ strike in US history, and enough other lunatic and destructive events to add another verse to the Billy Joel song. Most of these were Democrat enterprises, but they turned out to be only a tiny sip of the deep, rich, soup of insanity in which we’re all steeping half a century later in 2018.

Rich, Ignorant and Loud is No Way To Go Through Life
by Sarah A. Hoyt
People in the past were not callous monsters. The modern leftist is not special. Okay, one or two might be special (how do I know?) but they are not particularly and amazingly kind. Throwing their weight around on twitter to show how much they care for the “underprivileged” (a revolting word that denotes that someone is in need of more private law applying to them only) doesn’t make them wonderful. And their ancestors were not horrible because they verbalized their tender notions better. The funny thing is that if they had verbalized what was considered an admirable sentiment in their time more, the left would probably hate them for it.

On Humour
by Jim Davidson
Recently the topic of discussion on a Twitter thread veered off to the fact that “the Left can’t meme.” And what does that mean? Now, don’t get me wrong. I was raised by anti-racism leftists who worked in 1949 (!) to integrate the lunch counters in downtown St. Louis. Successfully I might add. I am an “anarchist from the traditions of the libertarian left” which means being against war, being against racism, being against the drug war, being against mass incarceration. You know, all the things conservative politicians seem not to find funny. So, I am not entirely unsympathetic to left-leaning ideologies, as I’ve encountered them many times since my youth.

SJWs Always Double Down, by Vox Day
Reviewed by John Walker
In SJWs Always Lie (October 2015) Vox Day introduced a wide audience to the contemporary phenomenon of Social Justice Warriors (SJWs), collectivists and radical conformists burning with the fierce ardour of ignorance who, flowing out of the academic jackal bins where they are manufactured, are infiltrating the culture: science fiction and fantasy, comic books, video games; and industry: technology companies, open source software development, and more established and conventional firms whose managements have often already largely bought into the social justice agenda.

Three Weeks To Go
by Vin Suprynowicz
Gosh, have the Democrats ever screwed themselves. Should I not be gloating over the stunningly bad generalship of those who lead my own former party? Mind you, the pendulum had to start swinging back after decades of increasingly bizarre, Crypto-communist, anti-American globalism. Women’s sports events being won by big, muscular men who grow their hair our, put on lipstick, and say they “identify” as women? Little girls being raped by cross-dressing hairy apes in the Little Girls’ room? American workers being told “The factory went away, your job went away, there’s nothing anyone can do about it, since no one has a “magic wand’”? Illegal aliens who keep coming back after being deported again and again, till they finally get busted for rape and/or murder, and a San Francisco jury lets them off because “the stolen gun did it”?

A Few Random Thoughts on Those Damnfools Who Want A Revolution
by Harding McFadden
Folks are just going crazy nowadays. Flinging hate and calling it inspired, while doing their best to cut the floor from under the feet of those that they deem “offensive,” showing exactly as much courtesy and civility to those that they accuse of having a lack of courtesy and civility. The only consistency is the lack of consistency, in regards to how they want to be treated, weighed against how they treat.

Norseman's Diaries—Summer of Storms Part II: Drenching the Dry Belt
by Jeff Fullerton
Predicting the weather is an uncertain and risky business. Like the projections of earlier models : that the hurricane season of 2018 might be disappointing. So it was in the halcyon days of late August when it almost seemed at long last the Summer of Storms had finally abated. Yet as the saga continues; we celebrated the final holiday of the summer season while two named tropical storms / hurricanes—Gordon & Florence were about to gear up to visit a lot of mayhem on the coastal regions of the Southland and spread epic rainfall into our region.
