Instead of a Wall
by L. Neil Smith
Over the decades, I’ve thought a lot about borders and
immigration. More recently I became an enthusiastic advocate of Donald
Trump’s border Wall and it’s been a strange, kind of crawly experience to
listen to the left wing’s insane and infantile objections to it. Hell, I
grew up in Newfoundland where the wall that defined the border of the island
had cannon mounted on it!

Third Acts
by Sarah A. Hoyt
Because of a post on FB yesterday (not mine) I
remembered that almost forty years ago, when I was an exchange student in
Ohio, the history books said something like “the American dream is dead, if
in fact it even ever existed.” Not those words, but that was the general thought.

Excerpt from The Great First Impressions Trip
by Harding McFadden
What follows is an excerpt from the forthcoming book,
The Great First Impressions Trip, written by Harding McFadden, and
available some time between mid-February and mid-March of this year. It is
the follow-up to last year’s The Children’s War, by myself and Mr.

read the whole story once it becomes available. So, without more blathering
on my part, here you go...

How to Fix Things, Too: PHOM CAGES
by Jim Davidson
From part one: Things are falling apart, are not
well designed, and their swift demise would be less harmful than their long
slow dissipation. Nothing we do within the existing political system
is sufficient to resolve its inter-tangled problems. Hastening its end
isn't possible either. Lacking resilience, the natural disasters which
can be readily anticipated won't be overcome effectively. In order to
build a better world, we can only begin in certain ways. To fix things
we have to survive what is happening and what is coming and be here to build
well in the aftermath.

Stan Lee: A Tribute
by Sean Gangol
I know that this tribute is going to come late, but I
felt that it was needed regardless of the timing. For those of you who
aren’t familiar with his legacy, Stan Lee is known for the creation of
iconic comic books such as Spiderman, Daredevil, X-Men, Iron Man, Fantastic
Four, The Incredible Hulk and various other titles that fall under the
Marvel brand. Lee was regarded as comic royalty, not only for the iconic
characters that he created, but for the way he changed the comic book industry.

The year is almost finished and the weather has turned decidedly milder after a mostly
blah and chilly fall that at times felt a lot like January.
