The Deep State
by L. Neil Smith
Those who are familiar with my work all know that I
consider myself an acolyte, of sorts, of the late, great libertarian
philosopher, author, and lecturer Robert LeFevre. You can look Bob up in
Wikipedia; the entry isn’t too bad. He is said to have been the model for
Prof. Bernardo de la Paz in Robert A. Heinlein’s The Moon Is A Harsh
Mistress. Also, my friend Carl Watner wrote a biography of Bob that you
should read. I didn’t agree 100% with Bob—among other things, he was a
pacifist—but he taught me a very great deal about history and human nature.

Clearing the Fog
by Sarah A. Hoyt
In a way I’ve always loved fog. Literal fog, I mean.
For someone who lives with her head between worlds, fog can be magical. It
obscures reality, it shifts, it obscures and reveals.

The Deeper Meaning of Julian Assange
by L. Reichard White
It was one of those mistakes which often happen when you involve a
government in your affairs—but it wasn’t Mr. Assange, it was the two women
who managed to bed him who made that mistake.…

A History-Making Speech
by L. Neil Smith
This is a shameless commercial. Many, many years ago (I
don’t remember exactly how many) I wrote and delivered a longish speech
called “I Dreamed I Was A Libertarian In My Maidenform Bra”. The reference,
for all of you under 50, was to a series of TV and radio commercials that
concerned young ladies dreaming they had various unlikely adventures in
their Maidenform bras, and was once funny. Now it has to be explained, which
is, of course, the death of funny.

Second Amendment Sanctuary County Status for Bernalillo County
by Mike Blessing
I support the Second Amendment, but . . . .
But even if it were repealed tomorrow, by unanimous vote
of the full U.S. House, the full U.S. Senate, and all fifty State
Legislatures, the pre-existing, civil, human right to own and carry weapons
for defense of self, family and community doesn't go away one bit.

Nihon Ishigame 5 Years Later Part III: The P-squares!

They made it.The two Guerrero Wood

Probably the only good thing about the day because I was seriously under the
weather from a stomach bug most likely caught at work.

They Took Away the Doughboy’s Rifle
by Vin Suprynowicz
We’ve all heard stories about young children being
punished at school by their socialist teachers for drawing or cutting out
pretend handguns, or even for pointing a finger on the playground and saying
“Bang! Bang!” And some of us did sound the alarm about the “slippery
slope,” years ago, when the forces of Political Correctness realized how
easy it was to start rewriting history by “digitally editing” old historical
photos. After all, why NOT remove the cigarette holder from old photos of
President Franklin Roosevelt? You don’t want today’s kids to think it’s OK
to smoke, do you?

A Day On Facebook
by L. Neil Smith
I tend to employ Facebook the way that other people use
Twitter. We could talk about why, and why I don’t like Twitter (I don’t like
Facebook, either) but that’s a conversation for another time. Usually, I
post once or twice a day, but this week, I found plenty to comment on. Here
are some of my posts, slightly edited, and with an additional comment here and there.
