That’s not REAL panic. That’s cosplaying panic
stimulated by the madness of the crowds.

First, let me say a big Thank You! to our supporters. Especially Mr. Don B. of California who send a very nice cash donation this week—and just-in-time, too. Thanks Don! You are a life-saver!

I assume all who are interested have by now gotten yourself a copy of Robert A. Heinlein's new book, The Pursuit of the Pankera: A Parallel Novel About Parallel Universes. I got it on Wednesday, Finished it by Thursday, and enjoyed it very much. And a good, satisfying ending it has, too. Oh, I see as a Kickstarter supporter I got it early. You can get it after March 24th. Do so.

Speaking of books, Long Range Shooting Handbook: Complete Beginner's Guide to Long Range Shooting (Kindle Edition) by Ryan Cleckner, is on sale this weekend for $1.99. You might want to check that out.

Here’s how to Build Your Own Nuclear Power Plant
by Jon Christian
A new site claims to offer a guide to building an entire nuclear power plant, from the reactor vessels to the Homer Simpson-esque control panels.
“We only just launched and in the last two weeks we’ve been flooded with inbound interest from individual engineers, industrial partners, and even international developers,” said Bret Kugelmass, managing director of the nonprofit Energy Impact Center, which created the open source designs in a new interview with Digital Trends.

Fusion Startup Claims Breakthrough Will Provide “Unlimited” Energy
by Victor Tangermanna
An Australian fusion startup called HB11, a spin-off from the University of New South Wales, claims to have found a way to revolutionize current nuclear fusion technology, potentially laying the groundwork for a new era of power generation — without running the risk of a nuclear meltdown.
The startup’s leadership doesn’t mince words.
“We are sidestepping all of the scientific challenges that have held fusion energy back for more than half a century,” director Warren McKenzie told New Atlas.

We live in Interesting Times (for real) as well as “Interesting Times” (as curse) don't you think?

Okay, just in case:

Straight from the ready.gov website section about pandemics, here are some ideas for you:

Before a Pandemic

  • Store a two week supply of water and food.
  • Periodically check your regular prescription drugs to ensure a continuous supply in your home.
  • Have any nonprescription drugs and other health supplies on hand, including pain relievers, stomach remedies, cough and cold medicines, fluids with electrolytes, and vitamins.
  • Get copies and maintain electronic versions of health records from doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other sources and store them, for personal reference. Get help accessing electronic health records.

  • Talk with family members and loved ones about how they would be cared for if they got sick, or what will be needed to care for them in your home.

During a Pandemic
Limit the Spread of Germs and Prevent Infection

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
  • Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Practice other good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

All what used to be called “common-sense” but that thing seems rare these days.

Wendy McElroy has out a new book (which I'm reading on now:

I am delighted to announce publication of my latest book The Satoshi Revolution: A Revolution of Rising Expectations on the bitcoin.com site. It can be downloaded for FREE as a .pdf when you sign up for the site's excellent newsletter. The FREE book has been greatly expanded from a series of bitcoin.com articles of the same name: The Satoshi Revolution. An e-book is in the works. Why not download both of them and give one as a gift to a friend? I would love to hear what you think about the book: wendy©wendymcelroy.com. I am also available for interviews and background questions for book reviews. Sharing this announcement is appreciated. Enjoy!

Signs of Spring are beginning to show up around here, bloomings, greenings, and warmings. About time!

I've been not-working on additional free books to give away to our supporters on account of being kinda not-well (not sick, just not well, which is very irritating!). Not-well for a while. But I'm feeling better now and will start up again on it Real Soon Now.

Stay deplorable, my friends!

Was that worth reading?
