“Gun control is the idea that it’s better to see a woman dead in an alley, strangled
with her own pantyhose, than to see her with a gun in her hand.”—T.D. Melrose

The Editor’s Notes
by Ken Holder, Editor
And once again the Political Correctors, Slavers, and Collectivists (all pretty much the same bunch) are out yelling (in effect): “We will punish those who didn’t do it!”

WARNING! Minefield Ahead!
by L. Neil Smith
Dear Senator/Congressthing: You'd better read this if you want to keep your phony-baloney job. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution ordains unmistakably that the individual right to own and carry weapons shall not be abrogated in any way, or sneaked up on, even a little bit at a time.

Ten Things That Could Have Stopped the Las Vegas Massacre
by J. Neil Schulman
Of course we’re hearing “gun control” as a solution to the Las Vegas Massacre. But if we’re looking for things that can be curtailed or outright prohibited, that would have stopped this massacre, let’s think outside the box.

Puckle Gun
From Wikipedia
The Puckle gun (also known as the Defence gun) was a primitive crew-served, manually-operated flintlock revolver patented in 1718 by James Puckle (1667-1724) a British inventor, lawyer and writer. It was one of the earliest weapons to be referred to as a “machine gun”, being called such in a 1722 shipping manifest, though its operation does not match the modern use of the term.

Open Letter to Reason Magazine
by Sean Gangol
When I first heard about your magazine ten years ago, I was excited to actually have an outlet that represented the libertarian viewpoint. With the exception of a few obscure libertarian online journals, such as The Libertarian Enterprise , there weren’t too many media outlets that even acknowledged libertarian viewpoints. My favorite part of the magazine was always the Brickbat section where you had a series of short articles that reported abuses that people received from local authorities. I also thought it was refreshing to see that your reporting didn’t seem particularly biased to the left or the right, which was much more honest than the reporting from any of the other mainstream media outlets.

Now is the Time to Do Nothing
by A.X. Perez
As the pressure to “do something” to prevent mass killings such as the one that occurred on the First of October 2017 in Las Vegas I bring the following points up for consideration.

The Norseman’s Diaries: Last Stand at Summer’s End
by Jeff Fullerton
Between two hurricanes and more grumbles from Wisconsin accompanied by some really ominous news bits concerning the early onset of winter weather father out west I just might have had a pretty decent series of Norseman’s articles in the not too distant future—although it might be nicer if that prediction fails. In many ways no news is good news and if anyone doubt me—they probably haven’t looked at it lately. The best thing I could come up with for the week was in the checkout line this evening when I picked up the National Enquirer and read that the Queen had changed her mind and was passing over Prince Charles in favor of handing the crown to her eldest grandson. And I seriously doubt it is true because England nor the World could be that lucky!

What I Like about Edward Gibbon
by Richard Blake
Edward Gibbon (1737-94) was born into an old and moderately wealthy family that had its origins in Kent. Sickly as a child, he was educated at home, and sent while still a boy to Oxford. There, an illegal conversion to Roman Catholicism ruined his prospects of a career in the professions or the City. His father sent him off to Lausanne to be reconverted to the Protestant Faith. He came back an atheist and with the beginnings of what would become a stock of immense erudition. He served part of the Seven Years War in the Hampshire Militia. He sat in the House of Commons through much of the American War. He made no speeches, and invariably supported the Government. He moved for a while in polite society – though his increasing obesity, and the rupture that caused his scrotum to swell to the size of a football, made him an object of mild ridicule. Eventually, he withdrew again to Switzerland, where obesity and his hydrocele were joined by heavy drinking. Scared by the French Revolution, he came back to England in 1794, where he died of blood-poisoning after an operation to drain his scrotum.

The Las Vegas Massacre: They Want You to Panic … So Don’t
by Doug Newman
I remember it more vividly than any email I have ever received. On the afternoon of September 11, 2001, an old friend from my Tucson days sent me an email with a subject line that read: “They want you to panic…”. The first sentence of the body of the email read, “… so don’t”. When something absolutely horrific happens, our natural tendency is to panic and demand that our government “do something” to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again.

The Buzzards Drool Again
by L. Neil Smith
The all-too-public reaction on the part of liberal Democrats and their vile collaborators in the “news” media, following the election and inauguration of Donald J. Trump, proves beyond any possible doubt that, for decades, this country has been in the hands of infantile, malignant hysterics whose “advice” is the last thing you’d ever want to follow in any crisis. While giving vandals, rioters, and terrorists a pass, they wail melodramatically (and with an ulterior motive) about incidents like last Sunday’s massacre in Las Vegas.
